Um, yeah, I know that everyone on this board will say that. And I just don't agree. I think there were a handful of great albums and some decent ones and a large # of albums that just did not live up to what they could've been:
The Editors, The Good the Bad and the Queen, The Meat Puppets, Fountains of Wayne, The Stooges, Kings of Leon off the top of my head released albums that were not up to what they could have been.

I wish I could be as resolute as you about how great this year was in music.

I had to narrow my list down from about 50 releases that I thought were worthy. All the ones you listed above weren't very good (and The Stooges album was so terrible that I had blocked it from my mind until your post) but there were many amazing releases, including quite a few astounding debuts. The new music this year leaves me hopeful for the future of music.

I don't understand how Richard Hawley's album hasn't been mentioned. I heard it today and it is absolutely top notch fantastic. Lady's Bridge is where it's at.
