Flight booked, airport question?

So last year I flew to palm springs, cabbed it to my hotel in Indio Next day met my friends at the Greyhound station and walked to the polo fields (it was awful). On the way back I was flying out of LAX and Greyhounding from indio... We had to walk from polo fields to Greyhound, was not so bad.... We actually got there by 8 or 9 am. This year I am flying direct both ways, already booked. My flight leaves PSP at 1:20pm... Once I get out of the General area of the polo fields you think a getting a cab to the airport is likely before this?

What was it that made the walk to the polo fields from Greyhound bad compared to the walk from the polo fields to greyhound not so bad? I live here and am very curious in finding something to do until Coachella 2008...

In response to BROKENDOLL Well we managed to get a ride a good chunk of the way down Monroe(or whatever that long straight road right by the polo fields is?) I think on the way back. Plus knowing how far away it was..... on the walk down I had asked someone who worked at a restaurant I ate at how far of a walk it would be, to which he replied about half an hour...... So basically a)knowing how far away it is b)we were not carrying around so much water etc and c) we got a partial ride......

I'm not sure why it would be difficult to get a cab on monday. call ahead a day or two before and book it if need be. I'm sure that's possible.

Although a lot of places have insurance surcharges (additional $10-30 per day), they'll rent to you if you're ages 21-24. Enterprise often has the lowest surcharges.

If you're 18 to 21, try Uhaul. Seriously. They have pickup trucks and vans and they'll rent to you as long as you're 18+ with valid credit card and driver's license.

And also there's always carpooling.

Last year at PSP I met up with 4 other people and we all split a cab to the polo fields, took the cabbies card. we called him mid day on sunday and arranged a pickup for about 7 am on monday (to beat the whole rush) and sure enough, at 7 am there was a cab waiting for us right outside the gate.

Not sure how you'd do this later in the day wiht more people leaving and going to far places.. they said they were cabbing people from the fields to LA and hollywood. and be cautious of your driver.. ours had been pushing 24 hours of work.. I had to talk to him to keep him awake..

It's still cheaper than renting a car and having it sit in a lot for 3 days. With a couple peeps, it'll cost you about $10 - 20 each way to cab from and to PSP.

Yeah, but not all the time though. I'm not 25 either and never pay underage fees with Hertz. Some of those rental car companies have discounts when you are member of some of their programs, certain corporations, associations, clubs, credit cards companies, etc. I've even heard of people who just called the rental car company's customer service and work out a way to avoid some of those fees. Anyway, don't worry too much about it, I'm pretty sure there will be a lot of carpool offers around here by the next months.

we are flying into ontario and renting a car and driving into palm springs. when we were renting out car i saw alot of people hooking up sharing rentals and working out deals with other people so thta could be a way to go for ya in psp.

Just take public transportation, we took a bus from Palm Springs to Indio for 2 bucks and it only took an hour and a bit. Then a cab, or shuttle in our case was a 2 second ride to the airport. Unfortunately, I can't remember the bus route, but that could be found out with some simple research or even just waiting till you got down there.
