I did a search for the album title and didn't see any threads. It obviously deserves its own thread, being perhaps my favorite piece of art of all time.
One thing I like to do sometimes is look at the rateyourmusic.com reviews of the album. They're a real testament to the emotional power of the album. This is one of my favorites, by a guy with the username of x y z:
“I could even tell you about how yesterday I read a news story about a 16 year old girl with leukemia, who knows that this coming Christmas is going to be her last. Still though, you see her smiling and stating her wish to enjoy the rest of her life as much as possible. All I was thinking of was ‘and one day we will die/and our ashes will fly/from the aeroplane over the sea/but for now we are young/let us lay in the sun/and count every beautiful thing we can see’. I think that if I forced it a little I could have cried. Jesus man, this is the cheesiest shit you have ever heard, isn’t it? I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. You probably think I’m going completely over the top now don’t you? Have I lost my mind? You’re probably getting your protective suit on, ready to dive in and rescue me from this suffocating cheese.
But don’t. Put it down. Let it go. Perhaps if you get the album too, then you might love it as well. Who knows, you might come and join me and the rest of them as we get out our guitars and serenade the night away while standing in our cheese-filled paradise. Sounds like something out of a Neutral Milk Hotel album.”
I myself have tried writing about the album, but I can't find the words.
