The property next door to Empire Polo, known as Eldorado Polo Club, was up for sale the last 2 years. Apparently, any deals fell through... I know I was offered my job back there with the possibility of atleast 2 seasons of work if I had wanted. Will that ease your worries?

Thank you, Andrew. And actually, long before I made it to my first Coachella in 2004, I had a little casita right on the polo club property right next to the campgrounds. The first time I met him, I had just moved there and was coming home from work late at night driving down that dirt road. As I was trying to avoid the rough spots and potholes, this Mercedes comes towards me flashing it's headlights, so I stopped. This guy gets out and comes up to me asking if I was okay because I was driving erratically down the dirt road, and after introducing myself, I said to him that whoever owned this road should get it graded because the potholes sucked... He paused and then introduced himself..."Hi, I'm Alex Hagen, and I own the road..." And within the week, no more potholes.

Ah, and then there was a memorable night when I was bartending at the Cantina along the side of the campgrounds and he had just opened the Tackroom Tavern Bar near the entrance gate. The Cantine belonged to Eldorado Polo Club, so there was that competitive thing going on. I had a full house of partiers and he comes walking in to announce that he's buying a free round down at his bar, so naturally the polo peeps headed that way to continue partying. (How tacky, right?) About an hour later, he returns as I'm going about closing up the Cantina, and sits at the bar with a cocksure look on his face, asks me for a drink, and proceeds to try and intimidate me with his bragging about the crowd bailing on me, and how the Tavern has been remodelled, etc...I noticed his drink getting low, so I proceeded to be "neighborly and polo friendly," and made him another...Double, of course...And just as he was about to head on down that ol' bumpy road, shitfaced, no less, in come the polo peeps after their free drink to start the party over at the Cantina with me...Good Times! LOL
