TWO DATES IN PHOENIX?!?! Whoah. AWE-some.

seeing as I graduate on the 14th, and don't plan on moving up north until the 23rd, and thus have nothing at all to do on the week of the 17th, I may have suddenly developed a strong urge to take a road trip to Phoenix. How is the Orpheum?

I've only seen Phoenix Symphony concerts there; they sounded great.

It holds ~1300 people so really anywhere is a good seat.

Also Dosh is playing the Rhythm Room on the 16th. I am going to that, I am fairly certain.

Also I can't imagine seeing both nights of Tom Waits but I am excited for the choice.

I would really love too... but I am already going to a couple other music festivals this summer and a trip to Pheonix or Ohio would be just too much on my wallet. I don't think my job would be to happy either.
Oh well though. I am sure ole Tom will come around my neck of the woods sometime soon. I just have to look to the constellations...

I just followed this link to TM and what I got was "Sorry, but this event no longer exists in our database." Did I miss info on when tix actually go on sale for these shows? I'm focused on MBV tix this wkend and don't want to miss the moment those STL Waits tix drop. Thanks, anyone with info.

As on his last tour, Waits’ U.S. booking agent and longtime tour director, Stuart Ross, has spent a great deal of effort to fight ticket scalpers. Along with Ticketmaster, he has worked out a plan he believes will make sure every fan pays face value (plus normal service and handling fees) for the tickets purchased for the “Glitter and Doom” tour, outlined thusly:

“In keeping with Waits’ longtime desire to allow fans the best possible access to his shows, the Waits’ organization is again implementing an anti-scalping program to assure patrons that their tickets can only be purchased at face value (plus normal surcharges and handling fees). At the majority of shows on this tour, Ticketmaster is introducing their Paperless Ticket™ system. Prior to entering the venue, fans must simply provide their credit card which was used to purchase the tickets, along with a government issued ID. The fan’s accompanying guest must be present at that time. An attendant will swipe the credit card and provide a receipt for the transaction. The entire process is quick, secure and simple. Tickets will only be sold via the internet and by phone and are limited to two per person.”

Tickets for all markets are due to go on sale Friday, May 16th. Check local venues and Ticketmaster for specific start times. Tickets will be available via the internet and by phone.

UPDATE THIS MORNING:

Holy crap on a stick! Tickets for the 5000 capacity Ohio theater sold out in LESS THAN A MINUTE, seriously, about 30 effing seconds and everything was gone.

yeah. luckily - I had 4 other people come over at work today because they wanted to know "if I got shut out too"

I'm dead center 20 rows back, not great, but at least I'm in.

When Radiohead tickets are much easier to get, it puts this in perspective. Plus, did anyone see that John Stewart from the Daily Show gave the tour a shout out and said he was flying into Columbus? Thats why everything's gone, Waits has many many fans wanting to travel to see him, and very few dates. There was a 2 ticket limit per customer as well.

I don't think the scalpers got any. I'm not sure how they'd work the paperless ticket thing, unless you meet your scalper at the venue right at the showtime.
