That's a very good approach, but the food at the festival is still delicious. For the first five years I went (04-08) I never ate on the festival grounds to save money. It's a great cost-cutting maneuver, but there are so many fantastic options on the field that you'll eventually have to break that approach.
The whole idea of standing in a line and then finding a place to sit down and eat, seems absurd to me. Just knowing that there are sets to see, fields to cross, and a bladder to empty, curbs my appetite enough to settle and be fine with either a Pretzel w/salt and a spot of mustard, or a Churro for each hand. If I'm starving at the end of the night I might go for a slice of Spicy Pie, or those Pulled Pork Sandwiches to eat back in the campground.
I remember a few years back, they had Ceviche in the campground that was pretty damn good, but I haven't seen it since. Other than that, it's all about WATER! (Well, that and tequila...-)
1. Run to a nice patch of grass on the fields and lay face down.
2. Tilt your head ninety degrees with your forehead temple resting on your forearm and watch people through the vision pocket right underneath your armpit hair.
3. Do this for a few hours until you get comfortable.
A Daft Punk thread containing 'nothing of substance'. How bout that.
Spicy pie was pretty damn good. They had a gouda and spinach a couple years ago that just hit the spot.
Dear Spicy Pie merchants... PLEASE look into this technology.

SPICY.PIE.
Don't follow me, I walk into walls.
I almost never eat while I'm there. Between the (normal) heat and all the walking around I'm just not hungry during the day, I eat a big meal before going into the fest and then eat after leaving. The only vendors that really get a sizable grip of my money are the Fresher's frozen lemonade stands.
Weekend 2
Blur / Passion Pit / Tegan & Sara / Stars / Purity Ring / Beardyman / Of Monsters and Men
Postal Service / Hot Chip / New Order / TDCC / Franz Ferdinand / Violent Femmes / SMD / The 2 Bears
Vampire Weekend / La Roux / Adrian Lux / Tanlines
('07-'13)
THere was a place selling the most delicious tri-tip sandwiches I've ever eaten. I forget the name, but I hope they are back.
And of course Spicy Pie. Nothing is better at 11pm than a slice of pie.
Was it Ruth's Chris?
Does anybody know if it's The Hudsons (LA) first time vending at the festival?
They have the best short rib grilled cheese and tomato soup.
The Vegan pizza place in the VIP was awesome

CRAB FRIES
Spicy Pie is a staple. had Pinks once. had the worst gyro i've ever had.
ate at the breakfast buffet twice, definitely horrible, but for $10, if you're not hungover, you'll appreciate it.

100000000% the breakfast buffet
To this day, that breakfast buffet at the campsite was the worst quality food I have ever had the misfortune of digesting. My buddy still gives me shit about making him to go there instead of the breakfast wrap stand a couple doors down, which by the way was five star Charlie Trotter gourmet in comparison.
And the coffee was undrinkable swill.

Friday: Sparks, Jello Biafra ..., FOALS, Beach House, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, blur
Saturday: Wild Nothing, Portugal. The Man, Violent Femmes, Franz Ferdinand, Yeasayer, Descendents, Moby, Grizzly Bear, Hot Chip, It's New Order, bitch!
Sunday: Cloud Nothings, Tanlines, OMD, Paul Oakenfold, Grimes, La Roux, Eric Prydz, Nick Cave
I've never tried the breakfast buffet, always a long line and crowded. This is the first year we'll be taking a grill and propane. And a french press. Suck it breakfast buffet.
5/30-6/2 Chaos in Tejas
6/24 Bosnian Rainbows @ The Casbah
It's been a few years, but my wife (at the time) ended up in an ambulance and sent to the Indio E.R. after eating a Greek Salad that went bad. When it gets blazing hot, you gotta be careful how the vendors are handling the food. And on top of everything else, we missed Massive Attack.
there's a guacamole stand in the main food area (near main stage) that makes the perfect guacamole. best food for festival crackheads without appetites.
