freedom of speech means the government cannot arrest you for publicly stating a political position in opposition to the ruling party. it has nothing to do with what a private commercial enterprise does with its own property.

I guess it's just a question of whether we really want to enforce all of those things. Because if we banned anyone who has ever said anything obscene, vulgar, sexually-oriented, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws, that would probably be 95% of the board.

But then we would all just create alias's. There's really no way you can stop it. And you can't ban at the IP level because you can always use an anonymity service like Tor (at least I would).
