I never noticed this - I was flipping through the old Coachella Guide booklets and I saw that in 2001 the Mojave tent wasn't called the Mojave Tent? It was called the Insomniac Tent?

Why did I not know this before this evening?

I also must say I like the smaller size of the booklets - don't you?

I love the Coachella pocket booklets, especially for their descriptions of the art installations. I like knowing what I'm looking at. I've had last year's in my car since I got home, every time I get in it I see it there. YEAH!

The Flaming Lips only did 5 songs, and one of them was happy birthday. Most of their set consisted of Wayne rolling around in his giant ball.

The Primavera guides this year were pretty impressive, with a full page photo of each artist on the left hand page, and a description (in English, Spanish and Catalan) on the right. It was rather heavy though but was free to anyone who had a 3 day pass. The one thing it lacked was set times, but they were posted all over the venue, and available at the info booth on a boring A4 sheet of paper.

I wish my booklets were in decent condition. I'll try to preserve one this year. I always forget, though.

But yeah, I almost started a topic regarding the insomniac tent. I guess the Gobi was the Mojave and the Mojave was the Insomniac? Was anyone here actually there? How big were the tents in relation to today's?

I know it was only one day, but looking at the set times, 2001 would have been sweet.

ya, the booklets are sweet. I always have my 2007 one right next to me...i often look at it and use it as a reference guide.

i always love that coachella has an artist that plays in the Gobi Tent and then blows up within a year, or sometimes even a few months of coachella

Yeah it was insane, so many peopel were trying to get in there.


Gnarls and Amy were great in the Gobi. I wasnt even going to bother with the killers in 04, then look what happend.
