How did you like POD? I heard it was pretty cool during Youth of the nation.
How was Seether? They seem to have some decent tracks. The opening act for the Foo's acoustic was Tim Curran and I thought he was fuckin excellent. Alot better than FF.

And Justice....what else can I say? That gig was fuckin amazing...nice meeting you there.

Haha... when I saw P.O.D. I was a HUGE fan. And I thought their show was great. They sounded just like do on album. And during Youth of the Nation they called everyone from the crowd on stage. I was bummed because I was stuck in the stands. With that being said, I don't really listen to them anymore.
Seether was pretty good. And by that I mean they weren't bad. They were kinda boring. The just stood there. The best song they played all night was a cover of Nirvana's Drain You. It actually sounded really good. And by the way, this show was JUST before 30 Seconds to Mars became emo gods.
Tim Curran eh? Yeah he was pretty good. But no way better than the Foo Fighters. But we have already discussed this haha.
And Justice was great. Becky and I had a really good time. Heres to more shows in the future!

This was definitely the year of LA for me. I saw Mika Miko 2 times, Ima Fucking Gymnast twice, The Mae Shi 4 times, HEALTH 6 times, Abe Vigoda 3 times and No Age 8 times. Plus lots of other bands at the Smell and the Echo and whatnot. It's been a great year for live shows.

What do you mean by this? As in, the fact that they're playing Coachella? Jeff (vinylmartyr) asked Randy when we saw them at the Troubadour and he told him he was, and then I asked him later that night at the same show and he told me they are as well. If you mean something else, by all means shoot me a PM and I can talk your head off. I LOVE those guys.

i have a running number of shows, but stopped my actual list of bands awhile ago...need to update it with all my stubs and notes from the last 3-4 years. i think it is in the high 400's over the last 14 years if memory serves, but don't have confirmation on this computer. so i guess that's about 30 shows a year average, but my attendance has really dropped considerably over the last 3 years since i became a dad...it was going down with age in general(31 now), as well. during my high point i was probably going to a show or 2 a week, at least. working in the music business for 6-7 years helped add a lot to my totals, but have hardly any stubs(the best souvenirs) to refresh my memory from that era, i think i was keeping a pretty accurate list back then, though. i am pretty sure about 90% of my shows have been goldenvoice ones, too, so thanks for the memories paul and rick(r.i.p.)...and my anonymous friend.

-the raconteurs @ the greek (i had a pit ticket for this show, but got admitted to the hospital a couple days before it...since i had been looking forward to this show for months i am going to count it, dammit!)

-a couple random shows at the glasshouse i took the nephews to, no idea who was playing

yea juststeve having a kid (s) does cut down a bunch on shows, but if you stick with it, you start taking them when they get older, then they leave and you go nuts lol .... the way bmack is going, he will catch up with me with me in about 10 years ..... i think my lean years were 20-25 and the high years 100+ so between 1k or 1.5k ... i was thinking what if someone said, i will give you back the money you spent on shows, and all of those memories will be erased ... i dont think i would do it because next to the really personal family and friend things, most of my best memories are show related .... its been a long strange trip to borrow a phrase ........ cr****

I'm hoping, 40 years from now, some kid'll be as jealous of me as I am of Ron, which is to say I hope that the bands I love so much are respected like that when I'm an old man with long hair and a beard.

'08 was a fun year. 8 festivals (of varying sizes/quality), plus a ton of local shows.

I started keeping a list like this starting around 2005 or so -- when I realized that I'd already forgotten about a lot of the shows I'd seen when I was younger. After 400+ bands (some of them seen many times) I'm starting to lose track...

It's true that many people saw the Beatles, but it still would have been amazing... there are so many bands from the 60's and 70's that I would have loved to see in their prime... hell, even some 80's

It's hard for me to imagine which of the bands we listen to now will still be important in 40 years. There are a few that I/we have been listening to already for 10-20 years, those ones will most likely hold up over time.

I wish my dad would have told me more about the bands he saw or even played with. But, my favorite story is the show that he DIDN'T go to -- had plans to go see Otis Redding with my mom for their first date, I think recording a TV appearance or something. Mom stood him up because her parents wouldn't let her go out with him, so he didn't go either. It was Otis's last appearance before being killed in a plane crash. My dad was so upset that he almost didn't ask her out again, heh.
