2007 year in review: how did ur concert year go?

well since we at the end of 07 and most of you i consider my coachella cyberhomies, i wanted to know how your concert year went:

this was the most fun ive evern had going to concerts. i ended up going 14 full days of festival concerts and had fun at every one. i just love the vibe, the people watching, the headbanging, the dancing,etc. i love watching bands im not into but looking at others goo nuts makes me happy too.

my top 3:

rock the bells: san francisco. a amazing day of hip hop and rage! plus having my 2 bros there made it extra special.. rage put on their best show of the 3 i saw and i had such a great time even though it took 4 hrs to get home that normally takes 2.

vegoose/ the vegas experience:
it was 5 days of heavy drinking, smoking, watching topless shows with my wife, seeing korn at the joint in vegas, and then topping it off by seeing the last usa show for rage in 07 in sin city was just so much fucking fun!

coachella festival: we all know how special it is but to put it in perspective, after rage played, my wife teared up and said "i dont wanna leave!" at first i thought she was nuts but after thinking about it, i totally understood where she was coming from. coachella is a place where we can just get away from all the bullshit and just enjoy music and life like we are supposed to every day. its a place where 60,000 others feel the same way. its not just another festival, its a investment in keeping our sanity. we count on coachella to make our troubles go away just for a few days and i thank them and most important, i thank all of you on the mesage board and the people who go to the festival for being able to relate to how i feel and for being so kind and warm hearted and down to earth for making this festival so special and it made 2007 extra great for me and my wife.

Correct. I think the only big-name band that came to town that I didn't see was Megadeth. I'm not really down with Megadeth.

I felt like 2007 was my best year yet.

Notable shows:
* True Colors Tour: Dresden Dolls were decent, Erasure tore the roof off the house, and Cyndi Lauper was fun.
* Tool @ Cox Arena: I wish I had caught the 2nd show instead of the first, since they got Pushit and we were stuck with the godawful Wings for Marie sequence... Great fucking show otherwise.
* The Shins @ The Greek (Berkeley): One of two Shins shows this year, I felt this one was better because, I think, it was longer, they played "Sea Legs" and, even though I was by myself for this one, I had a blast.
* Daft Punk in LA: Amazing fucking show, the light show was amazing, and it proved to me, without a doubt, that Daft Punk is probably the best live act around today.
* 311 w/ Matisyahu and The English Beat: Fun as all hell, my co-worker got me a margarita too, the Beat were amazing, Matisyahu was hassidic, and 311 were pretty fucking cool to see live after all these years. Great show after all.
* Coachella 2007: I went for RATM, RHCP, and Interpol. I came back with SO much more. I tell everyone that I meet that Coachella is an experience everyone MUST have at least once in their lives, and it's because of how fucking amazing the festival, and it's audience (you guys) were to me. =D

Joanna Newsom-Walt Disney Concert Hall (11/9/07) (She played with a symphony, with her band, and by herself. She sounds more forceful live, her voice is perfect, and she rearranges the songs. She is miraculous, and amazing.)

A Place to Bury Strangers (Xu Xu Fang)-Silverlake Lounge (12/4/07) (It felt like an important show. That's the best way I can describe it. They play with such intensity, volume and weight that I'm sure they're going to be a very big band in a few years. It was an amazing set, and I feel very lucky to have seen it.)

Man Man (Simon Dawes, The Ventriloquists)-The Roxy (4/5/07) (My first Man Man show, and the crowd was absolutely insane for it. I haven't had that much fun at a show in years. Controlled insanity)

Grizzly Bear-Kerckhoff Grand Salon, UCLA (2/22/07) (It was the first concert I put on completely on my own, and it went off perfectly. The sound was better than at the Troubadour the previous night, they played a different set with two songs they had never played before from Yellow House and Horn of Plenty, the guys were really happy with it, and they were amazingly nice people.)

Les Savy Fav (Parts & Labor, S Process)-Bowery Ballroom, New York (9/22/07) (My first Les Savy Fav show. They blew me away, Parts & Labor blew me away, and it was great to see a show in New York. A blast, all around)

Danzig-The Greek (10/31/07) (Played on Halloween, did a Misfits encore, and DIDN'T PLAY HALLOWEEN! Sound was very off, too.)

Ghostface Killah (Witchdoctor)-Ackerman Grand Ballroom (10/16/07) (He was an asshole, played for 40 minutes and didn't even acknowledge all the work we put into the show. I did make 40 bucks, so that was nice)

Arcade Fire (Electrelane)-Greek Theatre, LA (5/29/07) (Sound was way off, and they didn't seem as into it as the other times I've seen them)

Autolux (Midnight Movies)-Bradley Showroom, UCLA (5/9/07) (They seemed uninterested, weren't very loud, which wasn't a sound problem, and the new songs were half baked. I need to see them at the El Rey to compare, because they're one of my favorite live acts.)

Rahzel, Supernatural, Lucky I Am, Pharoah Monch, Grouch, Eligh, The Coup, Talib Kweli, Mos Def, Black Star, Public Enemy, Felt, Living Legends, The Roots, Nas, MF Doom, Cypress Hill, Wu Tang Clan, Rage Against the Machine (It was fun, but underwhelming compared to all the other festivals I went to. The midday acts all blurred into eachother and were very unimpressive. The Indie hip hop stage was better, but set times were too short. Wu Tang and Rage were good, and I got to go with my little brother, which was cool, but mostly a forgettable day.)
