It's known as smokebeer, and it's amazing. It tasted like a smoked steak or some jerky. A very full, filling and rich beer. Try it, without reserve, if you have good taste in libations.
This thread shall now commence to discussion of good beers.

THE SPECIALS!!!)))))
I had an Alaskan Amber Porter when out Friday night. They currently have it on tap at Papago Brewing Co, for any Phoenix people interested. I really liked it.
I also had a Wells & Young's Oatmeal Stout.
Delicious.
And yesterday I had a couple of these, in the bottles.
There is some spruce flavor but it is not a full-fledged Spruce Beer.
I'm kind of a pussy. I like Hoegarden.
I don't know if I'd like beer that tastes like jerky. How do they make it that flavor? I haven't been to the Thirsty Bear. I will google it. Vanilla beer sounds pretty delicious.
According to their site, they smoke the malt before they brew the beer, so it gives it the smoky flavor. There's a german Brathouse in San Francisco that serves that beer, so I might hit it up while I'm up there. And, my roommates and I are going to Thirsty Bear now. Have to try vanilla beer.
When are you getting here?
WHAT IS HAPPENING?????????????????????
I know right, I like to picture them riding around town in a motorcycle with one of them in the sidecar.
or maybe just a bicycle built for two.

I want to go to BevMo and buy strange and delicious beers. I have never been, I have only heard of its glories. I keep thinking of them as mostly having hard alcohol. This changes everything.
We ate at Beachwood BBQ in Seal Beach last night - good food, good beer. If it's Belgian, it's good. I had a Cabernale and a Vanilla Porter. Yum, yum.
Bevmo is the mecca of rare libations. Kinda pricey. But there is a strong chance they have it there.
Chimay Grand Reserve. A great trappist ale made by monks. It's expensive, but drink the whole bottle yourself and see what happens.

TOMAHAWK 2013
2001 - 2012 and counting..
Chimay is overrated. Especially the Grande Reserve. Maredsous 10 is much better. If you go to bevmo pick up Hobgoblin Ale. It's in the English section. Anything from Witchwood brewery is great. Hobgoblin and Fiddlers Elbow are the most accesible.
