After Coachella 99' was such a lo$$ for Goldenvoice, it looked like the fest would not happen again. When Perry Farrell was asked by goldenvoice to get Janes back together for 2001 and give it one more shot for Coachella, Perry Farrell agreed. Perry asked the rest of the band to get together. Im sure that was not easy for him to do. Mr. Farrell agreed to it because of his admiration for the fest in 99'. The draw from that reunion was what made Coachella able to continue on.

I am not a big fan of Peretz, Janes, or any of the other incarnations Mr. Farrell performs in. But I do have a lot of respect for the man and what he has done for the Coachella Fest. I think in 09', the 10th anniversary of Coachella, Perry Farrell should get an Honorary award of some type from Coachella. Am I really the first one to say this?

No Perry Farrell, No Coachella, No Lollapalooza. Those 2 groundbreaking festivals have been pioneers in the current music festival movement happening right now. Without those 2 festivals, the current live music festival scene would still be a dream. A Dream that even corporate sponsors would not want to touch, for many, many obvious reasons.

i agree with ya. theres a lot of perry haters around here, and i dont know why. i think the guy is a creative genius. sure, not all of his stuff is that good (peretz), but that doesnt matter, because some of the other stuff he has accomplished in his life like janes, and lollapalooza, have forever changed the landscape of american music today, and for that, all you bitches should show some respect.

I do not think that because Perry Farrell single handedly saved Coachella makes them obligated to book him EVERY YEAR (oh forgive me if he had one maybe two years off).
Especially since I have not heard good things about him as a DJ (I have never really cared to pay attention), and Janes Addiction is slowly becoming a joke, all they need is one more "reunion" to nail that coffin shut. Or is it only need to be that horse one more time in hopes to recapture the days when he was relevant.
But its great that at least they have Perry. Or Beck!

I loved Janes Addiction, until I saw them at the Hollywood Bowl. I think Perry has done great things, in terms of bringing music to people, but these days I like him behind the scenes.

perry is for sure a great supporter and promoter of festivals, but it takes more than one person to make it work. do u give pete best props for being in the beatles? is brian jones responsible for all the success the stones have had? i give perry alot of credit for being as creative as he is, but he was a small piece of the coachella pie! end of story...

thank perry ferrell indeed i saw him at inland invasion he put on a alright show but as for a pioneer in music for the 90s/2000s music scene is phenomenal he deserves a reward in 2009 for sure good point dude

what exactly does perry ferrels g-friend do for Satellite Party?? I saw their last show on the recent tour at canes in SD, and she was just sort of doing a washed up stripper thing. Perry was a little lost, and he kept doing the same intros/ jokes to the songs, and then would stop half way through, realizing they had already played that song. Still, i had a good time and I never saw janes so it was cool to hear "been caught stealing" and a few other classics mixed in...
