oooh, does that Beach Boys album have "Little St. Nick" on it?
my favorites would have to be:
Winter Wonderland by Johnny Mathis
Jingle Bells by Bing Crosby and the Andrews Sisters
What can I say they were instilled in my brain from way back when and hold a special place in my heart.
and speaking of Xmas music, there were a couple years that Banana Republic sold a compiliation disc of Xmas songs but either remixed them or did them in a real loungy way. They are great spins on classic songs.
I love Cocteau Twins version of Winter Wonderland & Frosty the Snowman...
but I agree...Vince Guaraldi Trio's "Christmastime is Here" gets me all melancholy...can someone please hand me a tissue {sniffle}

Darlene Love's "Christmas (Baby Please Come Home)" from the Phil Spector Christmas album, is the greatest Christmas song of all time. Christmas songs, oddly enough, tend to lack much emotion considering their subject matter, but Love's song is a full-throated yearning.
How can no-one have mentioned "Happy Christmas - War Is Over" yet?The best ever.

*sniff* That's just beautiful, man...
Okay, I'll second the vote for all things Spector at Xmas and chuck another couple in the mix.
Fountains of Wayne - I Want An Alien For Xmas
Kevin "Bloody" Wilson - Santa Claus, you cunt, where's me fuckin' bike?
Greg Lake - I Believe In Father Christmas
A teenage dream, so hard to beat...
The Jingle Cats will be in heavy rotation at my christmas party this year.
Asobi Seksu's cover of The Ramones' "Merry Christmas (I Don't Wanna Fight Tonight) to be released in the UK on vinyl and CD next week. I preordered mine!
