So a good mix of songs, old and new. Not the old pop hits but in my mind the catalog is near flawless. Also the closer was "Homecoming Queen" which was beautiful. I might be mixing up "Knives of Summertime" with "Sunshine" which was also performed.

So yeah, everybody everywhere see Sparklehorse and rejoice.
Sweet. For some reason I thought they were playing in a couple of weeks but are actually playing this Friday which sucks for me. I listened to their latest release today and it really impressed me. What else would you recommend?

I'm so excited to see them at Coach.

Is Muse opening on that one?

I really want to see Muse but not really sure if it is worth taking a work day-off and driving hundred miles with them just opening for MCR.

Not that I am aware of. But I tell you what, I grabbed a batch of GA and was waiting for it to sell out to re-sell, but if they are opening and you were left out because of a sell out, I'll give you one or a pair that I'm holding for face-value if you'll need. Are you from Vegas?

Who are your favorites in Coachella '07?
    Rage, The Roots, Placebo.

I'm actually quite open to listening to artists I've never heard. There are only a handful of acts that I'm really set on not missing. Other than that, I plan on making new favourites there.

    I can't answer that succinctly.

Vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot was the first and is probably my favorite. It is through and through an album; a whole that is of one drive and design. It is sparse, slow, sad and beautiful. But beautiful as in real and true rather than glossy and pretty. "Someday I Will Treat You Good" is one of the best songs I have ever heard, musically and lyrically (counted separately or together.)

    Also, as I just learned:

    Quote Originally Posted by wikipedia

In fact, most of the album was produced and recorded by David Lowery (of Cracker and Camper Van Beethoven) under the pseudonym "David Charles."

Good Morning Spider is a little more aggressive and more full in sound. It's a very different album than the debut but still very much the work of the same guy. This might be where I'd point newcomers - more remarkable than the newer albums but not as much of the delayed/destructed joy of the first one - but since you know the new one I'm not sure.

The 2001 album, It's a Wonderful Life is really good but not my favorite. It has a song with Tom Waits and another with Polly Jean Harvey. Also Nina Persson. The guests are mainly because Capitol finally started wondering wtf and tried to get him to be more like a normal band. It's still Sparklehorse, though, no doubt about that.

I mean, honestly, I have no idea how those first two records were released on Capitol.

    Damn I love this band.

For some reason I didn't register that Sparklehorse is playing Coachella. Have they been on the lineup since the start, or were they a recent add?

I bet you'll enjoy it, Bryan. I mean, it's not much of a show-type show. Mark did have a fan point at his head blowing for fluffing his full head of hair.

Also they didn't let us bring in cameras. This was not a venue thing... unless it's a new one.

Means i just had the wrong venue listed. I've got tickets tho. I guess I'll go check it out. I don't know much Sparklehorse, but what i've heard I've liked. It'll be a post-radio adventure.

Yablo, I am jealous of the Modest Mouse show.

Also I am jealous of Tucson for getting Lucinda Williams and Heartless Bastards at the Rialto on Neon Bible Day. I wish it wasn't a Tuesday.

Our newspaper described Modest Mouse as a "low-fi emo band." Tee-hee.

This is fucked up. I live in the Bay Area my whole life. The Stooges play everywhere but the Bay Area since they reunited. Then they finally choose to play there on a Thursday the week before Coachella. Which means they will probably play Los Angeles when I go home for the summer. The Warfield, as you probably know, has the GA floor. This means that I will be roughly in front center when Iggy flings his sweaty corpse at me in the middle of "Down on the Street." How lovely.

In my mind it is appropriate for SDRE. I've heard it used to describe 90s era Modest Mouse and Built to Spill but that never made any sense to me either musically or lyrically.
