    10/12-Free!
My Morning Jacket, Grizzly Bear, Divine Fits, The Wallflowers, and a James Murphy DJ set in Times Square (part of CBGB Festival)

The performances will take place on multiple outdoor stages on Broadway while interactive installations like a music equipment expo, skateboard half-pipe, rock climbing, record fair, a silent disco and other attractions fill Times Square to entertain attendees.
KROQ Christmas? Too bad, we don't have any "mainstream" rock stations left in NYC!

December 13 | WLUM Big Snow Show | Milwaukee, Wisconsin | TICKETS AVAILABLE 10/4 AT 10AM

Monomena were amazing as usual at the Echoplex last night. it's criminal how undersold their shows are every time, this band should be fucking huge. Unfortunately had to leave before The Helio Sequence - the show was running 30 minutes late and it had been a big weekend.

I saw this show last year and it was great. Don't miss it

"Gezelligheid" is a Dutch term that loosely translates to "cozy." Says Bird, "What I hope to do with these shows is adapt my music completely to the atmosphere of the space and the season. I want the audience to be both lifted and comforted as we head into another cold and dark winter. I feel the space should be sacred so the audience can experience my music in a different atmosphere."
You can see what kind of songs he played here: http://www.brooklynvegan.com/archive..._bird_joi.html

Holy shit yes. Oh, and to folks who were underimpressed by the Monkeys shows this week, I think your problem was underlistening to AM before you went. I've been obsessed with the album and it really did my body good at the show. I can't imagine how I would even begin to pinpoint a moment of the Oakland show that lacked energy.

QFT. It is definitely a little different vibe from them vs seeing them when FWN came out or even before but it was ground shaking none the less. Theyve taken the heavy from their friendship with josh Homme and merged it with what they already knew. The only song that was "slowed down"

was "WYOCMWYH" which was super groovy and put "whats the difference" on notice. Song selection was great, since AM has been out for a month+ any fan would have it in rotation. One of the few show when i was wanting to hear the whole new album. I did miss "potion approaching" is my only critique.

Yes, it starts at 8 PM on the dot. Usually begins with a Q & A moderated by one of the Grammy museum staff, then they open it up to audience questions and then the artist/band plays a few songs.

People must also remember this is recorded for all history and will be forever in the Grammy archives so don't say or ask something you'll regret. Not that you would but when I saw Kenny Rogers an audience member asked him..."So my aunt has a picture with you from a long time ago, was that a banana in your pocket or were you glad to see her?"

    Just an FYI.

With the start time being 6:30 pm, the curfew and all those other acts on the line up (Sander Van Doorn, Excision, Arty, Cazzette). I can't imagine the set times would be long at all.

I'm sure the rave kids will just be peaking as it ends.

The energy level just isn't what it used to be. Too many of the songs are mid-tempo, and while I like the glammed-out, trashy thing they do now, it has made them a significantly more boring live act. I can't remember if I had seen them in a non-festival setting before (the previous two shows I can remember seeing were Coachella, but I feel like I saw them at the Palladium or something as well) -- regardless, it was too comfortable all night. There isn't any danger anymore. It was a good show but felt strange.
You hit it on the head with this. New Arctic Monkeys are not nearly as fun. I'd even say the new show is offensive to who they used to be, and their fans. Slowing down the tempo of all the songs form the first two albums screams middle of the road rock. It was so upsetting, and disappointing to see this incarnation of the band. It was like watching a neutered dog on stage who loved to comb it's fucking hair. Sad times if you're an old school Arctic Monkeys fan. I say all this having enjoyed the new album. It was the worst of the 10 times I've seen them.

After taking the stage 45 minutes late, a voice over came on - the devil, welcoming us on a tour of the seven circles of hell. That voiceover came back on a few times throughout the night, bringing our attention to small stages in the background with stuff like an obese man in a diaper dancing. But I couldn't see any of the other stages because the entire area was flooded by fog machines - I could barely see past my knees.

On stage security was provided by "Hell's Angels" with jugs of wine passing around booze to anyone in the front who asked for it. One biker got in an extended middle finger-off with a dude in the audience. They just stared at each other past their middle fingers, for something like ten minutes. At times, other people up front chanted "FREEBASE JESUS".

Like . . . the music wasn't performed in a particularly great way. But with that said, it was a great concert.

Blue Palms is okay, super slow and chaotic service.
Have you been there more than once? What you are describing was definitely an off night. I've been there at least 100 times, it's one of my favorite places in the city. They have a wonderfully attentive staff, but they can sometimes get a little overwhelmed on show nights. i like to get there about 3 hours before a show starts if going on a show night.
