Yeah, the permit only sections for the Satellite have stretched so far that the last time I was there it seemed like the closest non-permit spot was at least a mile away. I usually just do the valet onsite. I haven't had trouble still parking on melrose for the Troubadour though.

Having a handicap placard is nice for places like that. Don't think I'd even go to shows there if I didn't have one.

Last time I was At troub. I got a fix it ticket for no front license plate. Would expect maybe a little compassion with a placard hanging from the rear view mirror, but not these days, all about the almighty dollar.

BTW Rodrigo y Gabriela played new material last night at the Hollywood Bowl and it sounded great.

Rodrigo also played the encore topless. Gabriela's the "more restrained one."

I'll ahve to try Melrose. I've always gone just north of the Troub and for years there was a street with no restrictions that no locals EVER parked on. Just Beverly Hills trying to fill its coffers and choke out local businesses.

I've parked right around the corner on Melrose for 13 years with no problem, including just a month or two ago.

I think they had that additional lot free for a little bit but after figuring they could make an extra $500-1,000 a night on parking alone I guess its kinda hard to just provide it for free especially when there isn't any street parking for free nearby.

I overheard a group of people out on the smoking patio last weekend at Black Flag saying they paid $9 for a PBR tall can, is that the normal amount paid for that at other venues? I feel like i've paid $7 before. Maybe the venue needs more money cause they don't have many sold out shows lately

Saw The Neighbourhood at the Fonda last night. Insane how less crowded it was on the floor and how much more strict they were in letting people down there post the Petty fiasco a few weeks ago. Fire Marshall hanging out front too. They must be on thin ice again...

It looks to be for the Grammy Foundation so it is a charity gig (so possibly not as full of a show as the Arena gig ).

These charts are just for raw ticket sales and have nothing to do with grosses.

I am impressed by the House of Blues Boston, an 1800 capacity club that would be #44 on the arenas list, ahead of venues such as US Airways Center in Phoenix (which holds 18,000). Though to be fair US Airways Center hosts the Suns. I am assuming sporting events don't count?

Also it really does seem like an error that Bowery Ballroom is not on the list; it has the same capacity as MHOW and about as many shows.

Also Spooks did you make it to Central Park last night? I was planning on going but was overheated from just 15 minutes of walking so I opted for the AC.

How was the crowd? How did the band sound?

This only takes in to account ticket sales that are reported to Pollstar. Which is a lot of concerts, but not everything. And maybe the Bowery Ballroom didn't want their ticket sales reported for whatever reason. I'd say that's the likeliest reason.

Great rock show. Sound was so on point as it always is at the Troub. Considering going again next Monday. Also, of note a seriously good amount of hot woman at that show. Chicks dig them some Wolfmother.

Tell me about the heat! I can't take it anymore this week haha. It was a pretty chill night of music and hence why I only really go to classical shows when it's free I mainly went for Tchaikovsky - Symphony No 5 (they played this second) and the orchestra sounded great. I didn't know the first piece but I'll look it up when I get back later. The crowd was typical older crowd with some kids being dragged by yuppy UWS parents

UGHHH why no Arizona dates? Morrissey would always come here because of all the fans, so why not Johnny Marr? Goddamnit. He was terrific at Coachella.

I had a great time at the Black Flag show. I wasn't aware that the opening band, Good For You, contained all of the same members as the Black Flag line up that evening, with the exception of the singer. Good for you was pretty bad though haha. For BF the crowd was out of control in the pit, literally the whole downstairs pit section at Observatory was a mosh pit, including stage diving, and people diving from behind off the ledge, it was a complete mess in a good way. Black Flag was a big part of my youth music listening so no matter how bad they were supposed to be, or how expensive I thought the ticket was ($25+$6 fee +$1 shipping) it was something I had to attend, wanted to pay homage to one of my favorites Greg Ginn. I thought the energy from the band was great, and I'm pretty sure anyone who likes Black Flag could have gone and had a good time. The classics sounded pretty good to me, but I'm sure if I was around to witness Black Flag in its prime, the show probably would have been tame in comparison.

So I found out that the Observatory one of their deals when booking an act is that the act gets all of the tickets sales while the venue relies on their bars sales. So that explains why your paying $9 a PBR.
