Indeed. He played for just over an hour and a half, and mixed in a lot of new tracks too. Fantastic set.

I can't remember, did the XX always have a Berkeley Greek Theater and a Fox Theater Oakland date? I was under the impression that I had tickets to the Greek but it looks like I have them to the Fox instead...

Beck - and a shit load of people.

    Barbican - 4th July

An eclectic mix of high profile musicians comes together for a very special night of live music, in which they perform Beck Hansen’s unique album Song Reader.

The line-up includes: Beck himself; Pulp frontman and solo artist Jarvis Cocker, Glasgow’s finest Franz Ferdinand, singer-songwriter Beth Orton, French icon Charlotte Gainsbourg, Joan Wasser aka Joan As Police Woman, Villagers front man Conor J O’Brien, acoustic indie trio The Staves, indie mavericks Guillemots, soul stylist Michael Kiwanuka and singer-songwriters James Yorkston and The Pictish Trail, with more guests to be announced.

At the heart of the evening will be a specially-assembled house band featuring Seb Rochford (drums), Tom Herbert (bass), Dave Okumu (guitar), with music direction by Ed Harcourt and David Coulter.

Beck has always been one of music’s great pioneers and Song Reader is an experiment in what an album might look like in the digital age: 20 songs, including two instrumentals, existing only as a book of sheet music, never before released or recorded. The songs are meant to come to life in a new golden age of home performance, leaving the listener, essentially, to be the performer.

In the lead up to, and at the event, the Barbican and Faber Social will celebrate the life of Beck’s Song Reader so far, with an exhibition of the artwork and a presentation of a selection of some the very best amateur interpretations of the songs.

YAY! Got to talk to him after the show. He's moving to LA in December and he hopes to finally do Coachella next year (said they had been invited before but timing never worked). The 2nd encore was Chris doing Missile acoustic and ended with Nightlife. I would have gotten home 30 earlier, but I didn't want to interrupt Chris for a chat while he was talking to Gary Numan (WUT!). Apparently Gary is a huge fan.

What a great way to cap off the tour. i'm dead at work right now. i don't know how i convinced myself that coming to work the day after seeing 4 shows in 5 days was at all a good idea.

July 19, 2013 OM @ THE TEMPLE OF DENDUR, METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF ART

A dynamic arrangement of avant-garde metal and Tibetan and Byzantine chants, the music created by the duo OM is rhythmic, hypnotic, and an entirely original experience. Since 2003, OM has released numerous albums, including a live recording of their transcendent concert in Jerusalem (2007) and their newest album Advaitic Songs, which was released in 2012 and received critical acclaim. Having recently completed their European tour, the band makes their Met debut with an exclusive, site-specific version of their record “At Giza,” plus some of their greatest hits on the Temple.

This is the only stop with Slightly Stoopid. I think it must be some sort of event.

Every other stop on the tour is just Diarrhea Planet with Futurebirds.
