I so hope they don't conflict with New Order or Moby. Those are the only two acts who Sigur Ros will lose a conflict to. And of course they're playing where I live on the Friday of Coachella, so seeing them at home isn't a possibility. Glad to hear they knocked your socks off.

Phoenix were fun enough. Faxman remarked that they're like the Beatles in the screeching they elicit from their female fans. Predictably, the Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix material got the biggest response, though there was a jam session midway through that was a stunner. They're going to be fine at Coachella, and they're actually energetic on stage (especially the drummer, who was kind of captivating). Not a band I'd bother to see twice, but I'm glad I got to see them in this setting.

Also, Mac Demarco is shit. Avoid at all costs.

I'm pretty sure you'd regret that choice later on...

I mean I love New Order, but they're kind of shit live.

Have you seen them recently? By all accounts they're the best they've ever been now. And I loved the show I saw last fall. Anything but shit.

The only time I saw New Order was the final song ("Can't Get You Out of My Head" intro for "Blue Monday") at Coachella 2005. I've become a huge fan of theirs in the intervening years. I've been a fan of Moby's since 1999 and this is my first opportunity to see him. I've seen Sigur Ros twice, including a show in a small theater in 2008 that's unlikely to be topped at Coachella. Besides, what I've heard about New Order's recent performances is this:

So yeah, New Order isn't losing any conflict.

I got there in time to hear them doodle on "Careless Whisper," then the asshole started singing like he'd just had a stroke & they segued into a frat-friendly song, so I decided I needed to use the restroom & get another beer. Didn't even hear any banter.

Skipping out on Sigur Ros at Coachella is not that bad of an idea. This is a band that has to be seen indoors with absolutely no sound bleed to a good audience and time for a full set, otherwise the effect just isn't the same. They put on the most intense show I've ever seen a couple of weeks ago, and I know that it wouldn't have been the same at Coachella.

I would kill some kid next to me talking about when Phoenix is going to play during "Vaka".

Sigur Ros wakes your soul up from a deep slumber and gives you the longest, warmest hug you've ever experienced. They are life changing sonic perfection that brings you tears of joy, sullen with the spectrum of human emotions while placing you like a tack in the space around you to view the universe as a wide open unending question called infinity while simultaneously focusing on the subatomic mysterious that live within us. They played in a cemetery, which was fucking magical, sounded PERFECT; out of 5,000 shows that I've been to, it was the best show of my life. SEE THEM. and no, i was not on any drugs. best live band working today
