The space was bought by the god awful group that runs an insanely popular set of clubs in NY/Vegas called 1 OAK, historically one of the douchiest establishments in the world... Should fit right into that stretch of Sunset Blvd.

Chelsea Light Moving was fucking rad tonight. They're a very loose and carefree band live, as evidenced by Thurston's heavy doses of random banter. This really felt like the weight and expectations of Sonic Youth have been lifted from his shoulders, and now he's just enjoying himself and having fun. They did an impromptu sorta-cover of Machine by Black Flag...Thurston was really the only one who knew it and forgot to tell the band he intended to cover it, so it was pretty hilarious watching them stumble through it. Alighted and Frank O' Hara hit were stupendous. They ended with an extended noise jam that was awesome as well. Really glad I went overall, I do get the sense that I like the album more than most around here, but hey, who knows how many more times we'll get a chance to see Thurston make some racket before he hangs it up?
    5/23 - Boris - Echoplex

    5/30 - John Talabot - Echoplex (?)
    6/02 - Bjork - Palladium

I'm jealous, this sounds great. Although, I bet Thurston is like the Rolling Stones: touring until he's dead.

    Classic Masher (new song)
    Another Velvet Nightmare
    Robert Onion
    Don't Get Me Wrong
That Burnt Out Rock n' Roll
???? (new song, not sure of the title, lyrics about circus ring, wild man of ... somewhere)
    Nimrod's Son
    My Favorite Kiss
    Caribou
    The Swimmer
    Sing For Joy

    Encore:

It was funny that Thurston pointed out to his drummer after they played the cover that he played the drum track to Black Flag's 'Damaged' instead of 'Machine'. And Frank O' Hara was indeed killer live last night! Great show!!

I thought Chelsea Light Moving ruled when I saw them too, as did Ty Pennington, who was a few people down from me (WTF?). Thurston was loose and chatty, it was their third show ever (I think that's what he said), and he walked out the front door of the venue while playing a final noise solo. I was against the stage and could see the band trying to figure out what he was doing and if they were done, it was both awesome and funny. http://nophotobadge.tumblr.com/post/...ing-knights-of

Yeah, but in context of swhite's post saying "just to put it in text" directly after the link, it'd suggest that they're probably related. Especially since the last work on the link is Prince. Gee, Rick.
