Thread: Upcoming Shows

It's probably true in Spooks case. The bands wanted more $$$ since Spooks went to a school that matched it's racist mentalities somewhere in the boonies of Alabama.

Wow only $50 for No Age & Grizzly Bear for $850? I'm guessing both of those shows had to be in 2007 or before. Everything depends on budget restrictions (lodging, crew, transportation, food/booze and etc) obviously. Huge difference between public vs private colleges too!

I think this was the site we used to book shows if anyone is interested:

Are these guys worth it to see at their own show? I only saw the Coachella meltdown of 2011... I like their stuff on record but I'd hate to pay for a show and have that happen.

They're probably the most hit-or-miss band there is. The Fonda show in October was absolutely excellent, so I'm just going to leave it at that and not press my luck for now.

Seriously this. I've seen Ariel Pink 4 times now, and I've had a blast once. the other three times I have regretted seeing him. Band can be absolute shit, if Ariel Pink is in a shit mood.

ALSO FUCK YES to Mount Kimbie/Holy Other tour. Peace is playing the echo/plex? May 31st. If you are a fan of Foals, or Tokyo Police Club earlier stuff, check them out.

Yea they sold out the 1000ish capacity Warsaw in a couple minutes I believe.
The Observatory is in Orange County not LA proper, so it's a bit far for a casual concert goer from LA. My point being LA has a way higher population and thus demand for concerts.
Shows that sell out really quickly at venues like the Fonda or El Rey often take weeks, if at all, to sell out the Observatory.

Theres demand, its just that the demographic wont buy up tickets right when they go onsale. Its so far away that its not going to be an issue anyway.

You mean like when The Weeknd played there back in December and was sold out quick? Does it bother you that the people booking shows at The Observatory are providing the people in that area of so cal an alternative to not fucking driving 2 hours in traffic for the same show and in a smaller venue? 2Chainz in between Coachella show sold out in no time if you need something very recent in regards to a sell out.

Seriously, what's your problem? You're so hostile towards everyone on the board. Cool, you can provide some counterexamples, that must mean my point has no merit, right? Why in the world would I care that The Observatory has started getting some awesome shows in recent years. I think it's great for everyone in Orange County, and if I really want to see a show there i'll go to it, which I have done in the past.

My point was simply factual--there is a larger population in LA and thus a greater demand for concerts, and yet you still find a need to spew some shit over such an innocent comment.
