I FUCKING HATE the Roxy. I refuse to go back there. One of their security guards choked me and when I complained to the manager he kicked me out of the show without even talking to the guard to find out if what I said was true. Fuck that place, I'll never go back.

Agreed. I also hate the Nokia Theater and I could totally see Bjork doing her residency there.

I also rather enjoy the Palladium. I understand it has problems but I've had too many good times there. RATM there has to be one of my favorite shows ever.

It was a Green Day show and they invited everyone on stage. I was one of about 50 people there, and as I was getting off the stage, he grabbed me by the throat, slammed me on the ground and, as he was choking me yelled, "Stay off the stage motherfucker!!!" I was understandably pissed, and wish now that I know what I do back then, because I would have called the cops and filed a formal report and had that guy's ass in jail for battery.

From what I gather, most of the hate comes from people who have primarily gone there for non-electronic events (myself included). Electronica seems to be your bag, and I can imagine shows of that nature go over a lot better there.

I have only gone to one electronic event there. Gone there for rock shows primarily (Faith No More x2, GNR, The Cars and a few others), and one pop act (Scissor Sisters). I would actually suspect it would be less exciting for full on DJ nights (the one I went to I had all access for, so it was a bit of a different experience)... And I just don't get why it's such a hated venue... again.. it's not the best venue in town... but I've had far worse experiences at both The Greek and Club Nokia (and my average experience at Club Nokia is far worse than my worst at the Palladium)...

Speaking of Fidlar, I went to the Fidlar/Pangea/Meat Market/Summer Vacation show at VLHS on Saturday. It was nuts!

Local Natives were solid tonight. I'm not wild about the new album, and though the Gorilla Manor songs were definitely the highlights the new songs sounded good live and meshed with the older material rather well. But holy shit, no wonder they save Sun Hands for last. That song was incredible. Best song I've seen live so far this year.

Yeah, I thought it was much more notable of a show. I saw Fidlar, Pangea, Meat Market, and Spaceships at the L.A Fort last Monday and it was absolutely fucking mental.

I feel compelled to chime in on the "worst venues" discussion.

The Sunset Strip triumvirate of The Roxy, the Whisky, and The Viper Room are the absolute worst places to see shows in L.A. Completely fucking terrible what ahppened to those places.

The Palladium, as Supre said, WAS a complete and total shithole 10+ years ago. I refused to see shows there after a while. But after the renovation, it's completely tolerable.

As for Gibson, i don't get the hate, other than it being overpriced. The sound is great. it's a very nice place for its size.

I really like the Palladium.
I've been there a few times and I've never had any problems, really.
The only complaint I have was that when I went to see Arctic Monkeys there in 2009 they had all the curtains closed and they weren't telling us which one(s) they would open so everyone was crowded around every curtain entrance. Then when they opened them, they didn't open them at the same time and they opened the one that I was at first so everyone started running toward it and people fell on the stairs, including myself but I managed to get up and get a pretty good spot on the floor.
I haven't been to that many different venues so I can't say which one I really think is the worst or whatever.
Like a lot of people have been saying though, I'm not a huge fan of the Gibson. It IS overpriced and the sound's good yeah but I'm not a huge fan of seated venues.
