How are Low live? I've recently gotten into them and that Troub show looks tempting.

I've also recently gotten into them, and have a lot more to listen to. I've heard really good things about their live show. So glad they're playing the Trouabdour and not the Echoplex or some shit.

I remember one hardcore show at the Glass House, a huge fight spilled out into the streets afterward. I'll never forget the chaos.

The Glass House actually has stopped booking most punk/hardcore/screamo shows because of a number of fights/riots that happened. For the concerts Ive been to there though, from Mono to Andrew WK, its always been a fun respectful crowd who honestly feel like they are enjoying the music unlike a lot of LA crowds.

Were they having fun and enjoying it or being assholes to you and/or others at the show? High school kids are allowed to enjoy good music as well. ( ¯\_(ツ)_/¯)

Tallest Man on Earth is hardly the best example of the kinds of crowds the Glass House draws. Although I'm sure it was a great show.

It seems like that'll make it better, actually. Because it seems like (although I was participating, too) the parking lots around the venue are rife with people trying to get their drink on in their cars before the show. Maybe if they could get a cocktail inside they wouldn't get so fucked up/violent?

Just one of the many many theories my husband and I have come up with trying to unravel the mystery of our experiences there... still no idea. But it's good to know that some of you have enjoyed shows there without incident.

ah, Glass House. Ex-roommate Mike was a doorman hired by Paul T (cool story brohamanito). Never seen a fight there, but I've leaned more towards the wispy side of shows. Charlatans UK, Lush, Iggy Pop (girl was sucking the sweat out of Ig's naval post-crowd stage dive. Hmm, delicious.), Pixies, of Montreal, and more I can't remember right off hand.

    Arcade Fire in Montreal!

On February 23rd, the KANPE foundation is organizing its first major KANAVAL fundraising event, in collaboration with the PHI Centre and POP Montreal.

Haiti’s legendary carnival will come to our city – with wild authentic masks, original costumes, and traditional Haitian delicacies all to the beat of Haitian dance troupes and music. Performances will include local Haitian band Doody and Kami, and the participation of Montreal band Arcade Fire. You’ll also be transported to Haiti with an art exhibition by famed British photographer Leah Gordon. There will be plenty of different prizes to win, including a trip for two in North America or a sun destination, courtesy of Air Canada.

Tickets for the main event are $175.

There are also 50 VIP tickets at $400 that include an exclusive pre-event “meet and greet” with members of Arcade Fire and special guests- food and drinks included.

If late night dancing is what you’re after, there will be an after party starting at 11pm. DJs include members of Arcade Fire and special guests to be announced. These tickets will be $30.

All tickets go on sale January 15th at noon at popmontreal.com. Proceeds benefit KANPE.

Definitely! I forgot about this dude. I was listening to El Guincho maybe two years ago and came across Coral LP on his bandcamp page. I haven't listened to anything by him lately but will check this out before United Nations gig Here's the full email:

Later this month, Monster Rally (aka Ted Feighan) will be having his first New York gallery show at End of Century on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. The show will feature several of Feighan’s recent works comprised almost entirely of paper collage and highlight the artwork of Monster Rally. The opening reception will be on Friday January 18th from 6-9PM and will feature a 1-hour special performance by Monster Rally in the gallery space. A small amount of the out-of-print Monster Rally vinyl will be for sale at the opening while supplies last. The show will run for one month.

This album was my first does of Yes. Bought a used vinyl of it at Just Play Music for a $1 when I was in 9th grade. Smoked a joint, put the record on and the rest is history

Looking at their calendar for the next couple weeks, youre totally fucking wrong. Youve been going there to shows for a year. How do consider yourself an "expert" on the venue when theres people here who have gone to shows there since you were still wetting the bed.....

Alright, I have not kept up as much as I thought. There WAS a dryspell of certain shows being booked there because of fights breaking out. You can go read through their facebook of guys asking when they would start booking them again (which is now apparently). A lot of OC kids have been finding solace in the observatory/constellation room getting going again in a big way with whatever punk was coming through there but for a while they were left without a place booking the gigs they wanted to see. Also, my examples just happen to be from the past year because they are most recent in my mind, duh and are good examples of the range of things ive seen there personally. I dont go to hardcore shows or will pretend I do... just sharing info about whats going on at the venue. Angry boards are angry lately.

You'll be fine. Assuming you get to your vehicle by 5, let's say 515 after you get your bags if you have any, you'll be in Pomona by 7:30. Enough time to grab something to eat (I'm assuming doors open at 8 though)

Hahahahahah. Jesus. You guys timed that very poorly. I guess I'd try to do the 105 east to the 605 north to the 10 east. You'll have more carpool lanes if you go that route, but you're gonna be in traffic for awhile regardless.
