EDIT: but then i see on The Satellite page that it is indeed her of The Donnas. BandsinTown fucked up again, though it was weird to me that it would be on his facebook page like that.

1st ever London show for Desaparecidos!!!
AFTER 10 YEARS OF WAITING, IT TOOK 80 FANS 2 DAYS TO BRING DESAPARECIDOS TO LONDON
http://www.songkick.com/blog/2012/12...dos-to-london/Just under 3 weeks ago I told you about a new Detour experiment we were trying: Detour London.
I told you about how the coolest side of Detour is what true fans of an artist have done with it. From a few die hard fans in Folkestone taking Hot Chip viral to the incredible story of a few fans in Florianopolis making sure that Andrew Bird came to their town. And how with Detour London we were trying the craziest thing we’d ever done: opening up Detour as a fan-driven platform. Fans with an invite to the private beta could start campaigns to bring their favourite acts to London and invite like-minded people to join them.
I promised that as soon as a campaign hit 50 pledged tickets we’d reach out to the artist’s management and see if we could make a concert happen. And then we pressed the button and waited to see what the hell would happen!
Today we’re announcing the first ever Detour London show: Desaparecidos in London on 11th February. Desaparecidos, for those not in the know, are a rock band featuring Conor Oberst, Landon Hedges, Matt Baum, Denver Dalley and Ian McElroy. They formed in 2001, released one album (2002’s Read Music/Speak Spanish), and broke up shortly thereafter. They set their fan’s hopes alight after reuniting for the Concert for Equality in Omaha in 2010 but have never been to the UK.When we launched Detour London, we partnered with a number of our favourite curators of great music. People like The 405, The Line of Best Fit, Mute Records and Moshi Moshi, and the legendary music community Drownedinsound.
All the curators built their own lists of bands that they wanted to Detour to London. Sean Adam’s list (the founder of Drownedinsound) included Desaparecidos along with some other amazing choices. Sean spread the word to the community on DiS, and within about 48 hours we’d hit 50 pledged tickets. I reached out to their manager, Juan Carrera, who turns out to be a pretty awesome dude and was thrilled at the idea of getting them over to London for a concert. We’ve finalised how to make it happen around their schedules and venue availability and will be putting tickets onsale on Wednesday (if you want to get one ahead of then, you can do so by getting an invite to the Detour London private beta). Amazingly there are over 80 people who have now pledged to make that concert happen.
So, it’s on. Desaparecidos in London, 11th February.
One of the things that excites me the most about the internet at the moment is how a few deeply motivated people have more ability to organise a larger number of people than ever before. That’s at the heart of what we’re seeing with Detour London. A few true fans like Sean and Luke at DiS spreading the word to people who trust them has lead to an amazing band coming to play their first show in the UK.As a fan that’s incredibly exciting to me. It makes me think that before 2013 is out I’ll be part of bringing some of the artists I love the most to London. Whether it’s Merchandise, 88 Keys or Mykki Blanco, I feel like I can do more than just leave a Facebook comment somewhere. For the artists I love, I am that fan.
So who do you want to bring to London?
And where should we open up Detour X next? I’m kind of keen on Folkestone.
If you didn’t pledge for the show, but would still like to come along, limited tickets will be available from 12pm tomorrow (12/12/12 12!) at https://detour-ldn.songkick.com/tickets

This is why I love Neil Young...
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1000...googlenews_wsjHow did you arrive at the decision that you wanted to stage this benefit in Atlantic City?
I saw that I was invited to do a big benefit at Madison Square Garden. I saw that it was a star-studded television evening. And I realized that I was just a drop in the bucket. There was already enough star power at that thing to do whatever it could do. Adding me would not make any difference. But I did think that if I went down and had a performance where the damage was, that would be a different approach and whatever I was able to add, I could add.If people want to come and see us they can come right down to the scene and they can see what's left of the boardwalk.
Watch it here live @ 730pm est: http://www.121212concert.org/Paul McCartney will fill the role of Kurt Cobain when he plays with the surviving members of Nirvana at the 12.12.12 concert for victims of Superstorm Sandy on Wednesday night.
The former Beatle will join Foo Fighters singer Dave Grohl and bassist Krist Novoselic on stage in New York to play a new song after secretly working with the pair. Grohl and Novoselic have not performed with each other for 20 years.
A spokesman confirmed that Grohl recently asked McCartney to come along to "jam with some mates".
The former Beatle suggested they "just make something up" and found himself playing with Grohl on drums, bassist Novoselic and guitarist Pat Smear, who toured with Nirvana for the last six months of the band's career.
Kurt Cobain took his own life in April 1994.
McCartney said: "I didn't really know who they were. They are saying how good it is to be back together. I said: 'Whoa? You guys haven't played together for all that time?'
"And somebody whispered to me: 'That's Nirvana. You're Kurt.' I couldn't believe it."![]()
Bon Jovi, Eric Clapton, Dave Grohl, Billy Joel, Alicia Keys, Chris Martin, the Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Eddie Vedder, Roger Waters, Kanye West, The Who and Paul McCartney.

El Rey. And yeah, it was a great show. The opener never showed, so we wound up standing around in a fully lit venue for about 2 hours waiting for the Knife to come on. Right before they did, Jeff (who no longer posts here) grabbed me and brought me up to the Goldenvoice box, where I met most of the old school board people for the first time. The Knife was astounding.
Wait ravers + black ties?! This is going to be epic haha!

More benefit shows!!! In addition to 3 Port Chester shows at the end of month, MMJ will be back next month!
My Morning Jacket/Preservation Hall Jazz Band/Joseph Arthur/Nicole Atkins/River City Extension/Tangiers Blues Band and special guests for a Hurricane Sandy Benefit at Paramount Theatre in Asbury Park, NJ on January 2, 2013:
"Following Hurricane Katrina, the response from around the world was overwhelming," say Ben Jaffe, creative director of Preservation Hall Jazz Band. "Now it's our time to give back to a devastated community where many of our friends, family and supporters call home. In New Orleans, we turn to our music during hard times. It offers us hope and the feeling that things will be better. We are doing what we always do during hard times: celebrate life. Hopefully this will bring some joy to the residents of the devastated region at a time of great heartache."
Proceeds from the show will benefit multiple Jersey Shore-related charities, including Coastal Habitat for Humanity, The Food Bank of Monmouth/Ocean Counties, Waves for Water, Food For Thought By The Sea, and RebuildRecover. In addition, MMJ will donate a portion of every ticket sold to their upcoming shows at Capitol Theatre in Port Chester and in Boston at Agganis Arena to charity as well.

The Mezzanine show was remarkable in the sense that people were offering to buy scalped tickets for hundreds. The opener didn't show up. The Mezzanine hadn't "remodeled", so it was still just as hot and awful and cramped as always. Two or more hours of no music. Then the Knife played maybe a 50 minute show. And every left totally satisfied.
*based upon tedious fact checking.
Eventful lists Soundgarden playing The Roxy on valentines day. It would make sense as it's the day before their few show run at the wiltern. It's not listed anywhere else yet, but just a heads up for ya...
