A SKULL BIRTHDAY
@ THE HANDBAG FACTORY 8PM
1336 S. GRAND AVE. LOS ANGELES
WITH- BASTARD NOISE, ACTUARY, CONSCIOUS SUMMARY, TOM HALL
I went to high school with the main dude in this band. I've seen his band twice, once 4 years ago at a weed festival and then last year in basement of a coffee shop in Riverside called It's A Grind. He had this machine that used a pencil sharper to make these crazy oscillating sounds and bunch of other strange "music toys" and methods to make music. The first time I saw the group they must of had like 7 people and then last time it was like four or five.Very drone abrasive post rock-ish band.Might want some ear plugs if they dude a set like some of the releases I have heard.

I have Halloween parties on Fri and Sat. This is like the 3rd or 4th time I've tried and failed to see them. I may just go Saturday to Club Nokia and go to the party after.

Holy shit... just saw the best show I've seen at the Soda Bar. ZZ Ward absolutely wrecked the place. Soulful, sexy, all of the above and her band fucking slays, all black session musicians, insane at their instruments. HIGHLY recommended... Her Troubadour show is sold out in LA and she's opening for Gary Clark Jr. at his sold out Troubadour show as well. Girl bout to blow up.
Did I mention she is a dime? Poppy but amazing. The show was half electric half acoustic, had the entire place rocking.

Good to see you tonight, Joe. Good chat.
Neil pissed feedback all over the Bowl. Shame it can't be a little louder there, but that's the way it is.
"This is a new song... I wrote it this morning..."
Unreal show. I have Neil Young ear-worms galore right now. But the most pressing one...
"Is it strange I should change? I don't know..."

Did I ask what time the show started? Do you really think I've had a problem reading the ticketstub that says 7:00pm on it that Ive had since June? I wanted to know THE SET TIMES for the entire show, dipshit.
Thanks, fudgumslover. You are a good person.
Here, let me diagram it for you:

Indeed Mike, great to see you again and see you at APTBS!
This was my first Neil Young show and it was a stellar show all around. Los Lobos had a tight set even though their time was limited. Traffic getting to the Bowl was ridiculous tonight. Almost an hour and half to get from Westwood to Hollywood. It was all worth it though. Neil + Crazy Horse need to play coachella already.

Everyone here need to know how great Grimes was tonight. When Visions came out, I wasnt a big fan. But I saw her in February and she really won me over live. the show tonight though, was on another level. so much fun and so much dancing from beginning to end. Her voice is just fantastic live as well. Also, if her new album is anything like the one new track she played tonight, its gonna be huge. It was far poppier than anything she has done, but it was just such a killer track. If you have a chance to see her soon, DO IT. She is going to be playing (relatively) massive venues soon.
Neil Young was glorious. The new material sounded great and obviously the classsics slayed. "Hey Hey, My My" into "Mr. Soul" was the highlight for me. I agree the sound in the back could have been a touch louder like it was for Peter Gabriel last week but small complaint. Amazing show and totally made an otherwise lame day amazing for me!
Damn British Sade slagging lasted 2 pgs. rough.
Nice call ods. on ZZ Ward. Looking fwd to those Gary Clark shows even more now. Tmac, might have an extra for you for one of those if ur interested. Considering I bought for all 3 shows and all. haha.

Neil Young & Crazy Horse for Coachella 2013.
Glad you guys like ZZ Ward! Definitely more poppy than my usual interests but she's got a ton of soul and exhibits it on stage.
She's also sooooooooo fine. Like for real.
Seeing Exitmusic tonight at Soda... some live videos have been a little disconcerting (I'm not sure Aleksa Palladino can actually sing live). This video/song is amazing though. Hopefully they play well tonight!

Tempted to buy Petty Fest West tickets if I knew who was playing which day.
Has anyone been to the KCRW masquerade ball? Just saw they added M83 and was curious to see if it was worth it..
