So who is seeing Lotus Plaza at the Echo tonight?
I'll be there at the echo tonight. Look for a big dude with a ponytail. Any word on set times, can't find them anywhere..
I have a ticket, but I'm sort of sick and am going to Vegas for my brother's bachelor party tomorrow, so I'm gonna sit this one out.
I'm sure Lotus Plaza will play the Troubadour in the fall or something of the sort.
6/15 Odd Future @ the Phoenix Club Anaheim. Apparently there will be some other hip hop support along with a second edm stage?
tickets on sale now
looked up the Phoenix Club, that show is going to be fucking weird...
11/21 - Pearl Jam - Viejas Arena
what ahaha who the hell booked that THERE?
It must be in the air; I just won tickets from FYF for Gauntlet Hair in Pomona, and the venue appears to a restaurant/hookah lounge (Aladdin Jr. II).
Did anyone buy tickets to the Krautrock thing at the Ford Theatre posted a few pages back? Has anyone ever been? Do you think it would work if we took the Red Line? Show starts at 8 and the last train leaves at 12:58 from Universal City to Downtown... not sure if we'd be pushing our luck on missing the last train.
Are there trams or anything? That's a bit of trek
I'm intrigued by this Rocktronic event in Ibiza..
There's even a video..

Kurt Vile at Pappy and Harriets, June 8th. outdoors, fuck yes. 20 bucks.
So Lotus Plaza were pretty darn good last night. It's clear that Lockett is used to being in a band and performing live, but I'm not so sure that he's adjusted to being the frontman/"center of attention" quite yet - his vocals were a bit weak and too buried in the mix/in reverb to really understand anything he was saying, and there was basically no stage banter beyond "Hey" and "This one is called...". That said, the new songs are absolutely killer live and I'm sure they'll only get better as a band the longer they tour. I think it was bmack who said that the strength of the tracks on Spooky... made him a bit worried for the future of Deerhunter, and after last night I tend to agree. They also played this awesome track called "Come Down," which is from a 10" split single he did with his fiance:
Here's the studio version:
That's about what I expected. Sounds like a good time.
I was thinking about this last night rather than studying: Bradford Cox is productive and odd enough to be compared to Neil Young. Him, Lockett, Dan from Grizzly Bear and one of the guys from Fleet Foxes should form a supergroup and be this generation's CSNY. I'd get on board.
