feedtime was fantastic last night at the Hemlock. Totally falling apart and noisy. It was like getting bludgeoned over the head for an hour. I'm pretty sure they played four one-chord songs. One of the openers, Dead Meat, was really good too. Anyway, see feedtime in LA.

^^^shit like that is why i could never bring myself to go on tour with some of the smaller bands i worked with. all that and doing it in a van with 5 or 6 other dudes just never appealed to me, a tour bus may have been a little better but still wouldn't do it. june thru august just looks brutal.
edit: just realized that is for cs&n and not !!!
dealing with some scheduling right now and that just looked so overwhelming to me, haha

With combined album sales of almost 200 million, KISS and MΦTLEY CRάE are more than just iconic; they remain today as the dominant powerhouses of rock music tallying 30+ chart-topping hits, countless sold out tours and awards and accolades from around the world. Known for their elaborate and spectacular stage shows, each band plans to give fans the ultimate summer concert experience with the most impressive lighting and sound production ever and their signature over-the-top pyrotechnics. This is the first time KISS and MΦTLEY CRάE will share a stage since 1982.
KISS consists of Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons, Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer. MΦTLEY CRάE consists of Vince Neil, Mick Mars, Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee.
These veterans of the music business are still at the height of their popularity. KISS is the juggernaut of them all, with 3,000 licensed merchandise products, including the KISS golf course in Las Vegas and a new album. KISS has broken box office records set by The Beatles and Elvis. MΦTLEY CRάE is the first rock band in history to have just completed an epic sold-out Las Vegas residency at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. The band is best known for continuing to reinvent not only their live show (with mind blowing elements such as Tommy Lee’s 360 drum roller coaster) and music (brand new song due out this spring), but remain on the cutting edge via social media interaction. MΦTLEY CRάE’s New York Times bestselling book The Dirt is currently being adapted into a major motion picture. Last month, the band was featured in one of the highest rated Super Bowl ads of all time for the KIA Optima.

I wonder who is playing last on the Kiss/Crue tour? My guess is Kiss.
The War on Drugs killed it. I had school til almost 9, and the Avalon is a piece of shit, so we didn't get into the venue until almost 9:30, but for the nearly 20 minutes we waited in line to get our tickets we could hear them playing from outside. We got in just as The Animator was shifting into Come to the City. That was my favorite bit of music from last year, and they do it SO well live. Adam's vocals were more Bob Dylan yelpy tonight than last time I saw him, but it worked really well. Despite the fact that the Avalon is always full of douchebags and shitty bartenders, they have a killer soundsystem that really benefited these guys. If they went on when they were supposed to, they had a full hour set. What I heard inside was: The Animator, Come to the City, Come For It, Best Night, Arms Like Boulders, I Was There, Brothers (with Alex Bleeker from Real Estate).
Sharon Van Etten is someone I want to meet. She has such a great, genuine stage presence. She conversed with the crowd through the whole show, was self-deprecating and goofy in a super cute way, and just so charming. She truly seemed like herself whenever she spoke, and then she played her dark folk songs and transformed. Her voice is huge live, going from sparse whispers to a throaty howl that filled the room. She took the quiet stuff from her album and cranked it way up, both in volume and intensity. Her backing band was ace (Heather Woods Broderick is a spectacular musician, and it was great to see the two of them interact.) I was not overly familiar with Sharon's work prior to tonight, but she definitely won me over and inspired me to listen more. Thanks for the tickets Oscar!
Man I wanted to go to that show so bad. Fucking finals. So looking forward to seeing War on Drugs live.
Vampire Weekend (4/18) ~ Sigur Ros (4/19) ~ Old Crow Medicine Show (4/28) ~ Rolling Stones (5/2) ~ Born Ruffians (5/6) ~ Yo La Tengo (5/9) ~ Rhye (5/10) ~ Baths (6/28) ~ Latitude Music Festival (7/21) ~ End of the Road Festival (8/30 - 9/1)
Of Montreal was ok tonight. Not overly impressive for my first time seeing them. The Past is a Grotesque Animal was amazing though, definitely the highlight of what was an otherwise middle of the road show.

Yeah overall the show was pretty bland. Even when I was in the restroom people were like "Man I swore they were a lot better last time I saw then" Oh well, Grosteque Animal was great but overall totally lackluster show. Glad the ticket was only $25 or I'd feel totally ripped off.
I agree about of Montreal - last time I saw them (last May) they were much better, but still, mostly just okay. The Past Was a Grotesque Animal though, was fucking amazing, and totally made it worth it. I am disappointed that they played NOTHING from Sunlandic Twins (last time I saw them they played one...) but I guess that's to be expected now.
Julia Holter at Amoeba on the other hand was fantastic. I only sort of liked her stuff on album, and never really listened all the way through. To be honest I kind of found her voice annoying. But since the show was free and easy to get to I went, and I'm glad I did. As the show progressed I went from thinking I would have preferred instrumental only versions of the songs to actually appreciating her voice. It didn't hit me all at once when I was there, though. I liked the show well enough, but it wasn't until later that night when I found the songs replaying in my head that I realized it was pretty amazing.
