Saw that. Should be good. Last time I saw Antlers was at Minus the Bear.

The Afghan Whigs put on one of the best rock shows I've ever seen at Slim's last night. In addition to their songs just sounding tight as fuck, they did a brief cover of The Beatles "Getting Better," and then for their second encore an incredible rendition of AC/DC's "Night Prowler."

    9/12: Shifted @ Mercer

Are you talking about if the band name "Yellow Ostrich" is singular? Do we need to have this conversation again? Were you even around for those conversations about band names being singular?

Das Cool. I am looking forward to giving Failure another shot. They were alright opening for Tool. I will be seeing them at The Greek in a few weeks

Not sure if I was around. I don't care for the band much and thus haven't given the name much attention, that's the real issue here.

Saw some of the setlists from their opening slots, not their best IMO. Give it a full set and hearing Daylight, The Nurse Who Loved Me, Stuck on You, Let it Drip, etc. Hoping they decide to bust out their cover of Enjoy The Silence, that would be unreal.

I've been there since the Goldenvoice/AEG management takeover. I can say it's a lot cleaner, and the sound is better and they fixed the men's restroom so you aren't going in urinal that is right against someone else.

I miss the wacky cast of chracters that use to work there and I was surprised how much Staff Pro security they had for such a small venue for a show that wasn't sold out. And they took a bunch of chairs out of the VIP area.

    All in all it's improved...

Yeah, I hated that place because of the shitty staff and weird layout. And I was choked by a security guard once.

But it sounds like they've made positive changes. I'd like to make it to that show at the Roxy, but I'll actually be in the Bay Area during the San Francisco show, so it looks like I'm going that route.

Wow! Choked by a security guard, what went down?

They only kept a couple people from the old Roxy, it's almost 100% new staff.

And the sound is a lot crisper and clearer as I said.

The club still has the same layout it's just cleaner and no more dirt and grime and the bathroom isn't like being in a prision any more. You don't have to pee so close to someone else that you are touching thighs.

Now all they need to do is update the El Rey sound.

I saw a bunch of a guys get choked out by security at the Echo once during Girl Talk. He invited the people to come on stage and dance but the security only wanted hot girls to dance on stage so they dragged all the guys off the stage, choked them out and bounced them to curb with no re-admission allowed.

It was one of the most disturbing aweful spectacles I have seen.

Wow that sucks. Sound like they're trying to make it respectable. And it's probably kind of sad that I've never been there since I live in LA county.

This is essentially my story. I was at a Foxboro Hot Tubs show (Green Day in a garage rock guise) and they invited the crowd on stage. Security told people to get down, so the crowd was slowly moving to do so. Apparently the guard wasn't pleased with how slowly, as he grabbed my shirt, pulled me off the stage, slammed me on the ground and, choking me, yelled something about listening when he talks. I found the manager and told her what happened, and she stood behind the security guard's actions. So I said i'd never go back there, but if those people are no longer there, then maybe I'll return.

Oh yea. Really looking forward to it. Don't want to miss them at the Bowl. And definitely want to see Tony Iommi one more time (not sure how much he has left in the tank after his battle with lymphoma).
