yeah, it's more the latter, plus of all the possible venues in the entire Los Angeles area, getting booked at the chain music venue seems like such a dull option, unless it's on the only one available.

Any time Slint plays and I can make it I will go. Seen them 3 times and they're always excellent. Plus, it's great fun to watch Schoolofruckus drop the law on a couple of screaming assholes treating the show like a hair metal concert.

Definitely going to try to make this since it's free and on a weekend.

From the poster, it looks like Bl'Ast! is likely playing.

That looks likely. They usually have a sort of theme every year, and focus on a particular sub genre. This year it looks like thrash and sludgy doom, which makes me think Exhorder is one of the headliners. I had thought they broke up after their bassist died, but hopefully I am wrong about that.

edit: maybe Converge is the other headliner?

Anyone know anything about a presale for New Order at the Greek? Seems to be the only way I get good tickets there.

Fingers crossed for Noisem and Sadgiqacea if that's the case.

Exhorder was my first thought for the second headliner name.

St. Vincent was her usual magnificent self last night. The new songs sounded fantastic live and the old ones felt renewed. Cheerleader had this new intensity to it that just blew me away. Watching Annie go nuts during Your Lips Are Red is worth the price of a ticket alone. My initial reaction is this goes to No. 2 out of the four times that I've seen her (No. 1 - Crescent Ballroom, No. 2 - Orpheum Theatre, No. 3 - Greek Theatre w/David Byrne, No. 4 - Coachella 2012).
    7/27-Bleeding Through (Pub Rock)

Last night was my first time seeing her and I thought she was really great. The Orpheum is such a beautiful venue, which made the night even more enjoyable.

I can't wait. The photos and videos I've seen make this tour look like it's on another level. Approaching Chad-levels of desperation for the Wiltern show.

I see Perfect Pussy booked at 7th street Punx but song kick has them at a fest in Idaho tomorrow night. I'm guessing the DIY gig is a no go. Anyone?

I've seen her a bunch and I could not stop smiling at this show. This was easily my favorite performance i've ever seen by her. She owned that stage and the theater. I liked it even better than the Crescent show because of the new songs and the production. Northern Lights and Laughing With a Mouth of Blood were a couple highlights but honestly, every single song was on point last night. That guy that danced himself to the stage was standing next to me and when I saw him start moving forward I knew it was going to be fun to watch and when he got on the stage Annie's eyes got really big but security was there pretty fast. +10000 points to the member of the crowd who shouted after the very first song "hey Phoenx can we please stand for this show". To my shock everyone in the theater agreed and the rest of the night just had a killer vibe. It was just perfect. I hope more people loudly shout that question at theater rock shows and Annie vocally welcoming that request definitely helped.

I wish she was coming through Albuquerque. "Prince Johnny" is a song I can't stop listening to.

I'm dumb and thought that the Kraftwerk show was Friday but it's Thursday so I can't make St. Vincent at the Grammy museum. Really bummed but I'm not missing Computer World. Anyone want the ticket for face? Will call ticket so we'd have to meet at the museum sometime around 6:30ish because I have to be at Disney Hall before 7:30.

Ugh, I'm so annoyed that her only Austin show was in that impossible to get into showcase.

One more thought about last night's St. Vincent show, that new song she played was really, really cool. Loved how percussive it was and it had a really nice groove to it. It's showing up as Pieta on the setlists. Wonder when/if she's going to release a studio version. Also, if you're into show posters, she has a tour poster available for $30 and the one I bought was signed. I don't know how many signed posters are available at each show, but the merch table lady brought a pretty big stack of them to the table with her.
