edit: RSVP closed in under 10 minutes!

    Flying Lotus (EXCLUSIVE-- Warp)
    Death Grips (Epic)
    Buke & Gase (Brassland)
Ali Shaheed Muhammad (NPR Music's Microphone Check)

    Flying Lotus:
In his only performance during CMJ, Los Angeles-based electronic composer Steven Ellison, a.k.a. Flying Lotus, headlines the NPR Music event on the heels of his recently released new album Until the Quiet Comes. Ellison's distinctive collages of hip-hop, dubstep, jazz and blues have garnered both critical and popular acclaim.

    Death Grips:
The uncompromising noise-rap group plays its first New York City show since releasing a major-label debut back in April. As the band's abrasive, jittery sound has developed and intense following in the interim, witness six months of anticipation unleashed on stage and in the crowd.

    Buke and Gase:
Having recently released an EP, Function Falls, and also announced a new album, this performance offers an opportunity to hear live renditions of new music from the unpredictable and inventive duo as well as favorites.

    Ali Shaheed Muhammad:
One-third of the legendary rap group A Tribe Called Quest, the DJ, producer and co-host of NPR Music's Microphone Check stream will keep the crowd bumping all night spinning records between band sets.

Don't worry about it! You should have received this email...

ps By the way, if you're coming for the whole week, watch for BV to have couple free day/night shows (probably at Public Assembly) and Fader should be announcing their Fader Fort this afternoon!

    Hey there!

Thanks for your RSVP to the NPR Music + Soundcheck Present: Live From CMJ.

Your RSVP was received and your name will be added to the GA list at the door for the event.

(NOTE: If you're getting this email, please ignore the random error message sent from Brown Paper Tickets-- they alerted us and corrected the error some of you received shortly after the RSVP link went live)

As mentioned during your RSVP, this event is strictly first-come, first-admitted.

Doors will open at 9pm, and due to demand for this show, we can imagine that the venue capacity will be met rather quickly. After that point, it will be one in, one out...

So basically, show up early for best chances of getting in, ok?

This show is 21+ with ID, NO EXCEPTIONS. Also, door list is non-transferable: all names used to RSVP must match ID presented at the door.

We are so excited for this show, and you should be, too! See you next week...!

Was anyone else at the Greek for that Halloween night Cramps/QOTSA/Tomahawk show where it was an absolute torrential downpour the entire night? I swear i have never seen rain like that in L.A. before or since that night. It was insane. And girls were STILL wearing basically their underwear in slutty Halloween costumes. It was a great show. And I did have a poncho.

I haven't been to the Greek in like two years - can someone remind me if there is any place right around the entrance to eat some food and drink some wine before a show? I vaguely remember there was like picnic tables or something but it might have been the Hollywood Bowl? Man it's been so long.

Man... I don't know if their sound guys are to blame or if the venue is to blame... but goddamn I was disappointed with Metric tonight!

ALL you could hear in the pit was the guitar... I could barely hear the vocals until the acoustic version of Gimme Sympathy to close out the night.

yeah, their sound was all bad in the pit. Some of the slower stuff was fine, but anything with a lot of guitar was basically shot.

I did approve of the Big Lebowski reference, however.

also, I thought Half Moon Run were super good. I definitely want to catch them in a smaller venue.

Was 2nd row and the vocal level was wonky since you are behind the PA system speakers and they didn't have many monitors you'd catch the vocals from. Moved to the very back of the pit on the rail and the sound was just about perfect. Bass may have been a little high if anything.

    Metric played from 8:45-10:15

Fun show. New songs sound great and Emily is generally awesome on all counts. And Half Moon Run were excellent. A wonderful discovery.
