Went to the Back to Basics hip hop festival at the Observatory in oc last night, friend got free tickets day before and hit me up! Had a much better experience than I was expecting from a hip hop show at the Observatory, which I am usually not too fond of. Got to see Planet Asia, Souls of Mischief, Zion I, and People Under the Stairs. Zion I were really entertaining, and I thought the dj displayed a pretty good example of what a "live" set from a dj could entail. People Under the Stairs were very average to my dismay, Thes One and Double K just didn't seem to be on the same page, and it seems like they possibly don't get along too well these days. Who knows.. Towards the end of the set Double K spoke out against worldstarhiphop.com and asked the audience to boycott them. On the way out though just as I was thinking how smoothly the night went, I saw the aftermath of a fight in the parking lot broken up by security, with both ends still yelling and shouting. Not sure if the fight started inside, and ended outside, or if they were already outside, but its just a shame that there is some sort of altercation pretty much guaranteed every time I'm there.

Another year, another show that I can't go to because it's on Thanksgiving weekend. I only would have been going for the Stooges anyways.

It was $50, I'm sure this show will be more for good seats. But I had no income. So it was excessively high for me.

I'm not too excited to see Iggy from the cheap seats. And Morrissey's last go around was nothing special. But damn this is a good combo.

Wont it be his last "go around"? There were reports of his retirement not too long ago. Maybe just rumors.

He's said that he might retire from recording, I though.

Regardless, I don't think this is a great combo. How the fuck is Morrissey expecting to engage a crowd after Raw Power wipes the stage clean?

I mean. It will be intimate. I dunno how the crowd will be, but I think it could be a nice setting. I might hit it.

Even at the seated wiltern the crowd was a bit roudy and was anything but quite. Still respectful but people wanted to shout and cheer him on loads. He's a lively performer despite the music he plays.

He is ''retirning'' in 2 years. When he turns 55. This will not be how he goes out. Besides, one show in los angeles will not be enough regardless if its at staples. He will probably do a residency somewhere.

I'm more interested in the Stooges than Morrissey, but interesting combo. Also, lol @ Byrne/Clark playing the same venue American Idiot: The Musical just rolled through. It's a nice place though.

Morrissey and Niki & the Dove shows in El Paso. Oof. Now's not a good time to only have $5 in the bank. I hope the Morrissey tickets don't go on sale too soon... but they probably will...
