FlyLo added to the Animal Collective Bowl show! I knew it wasn't just going to be that throat-singing group opening. I unfortunately won't be there, but fuck, FlyLo is one of the best openers they could have landed.
Jack white red rocks August 8th. I hope beck is there too.
Stagecoach - yee haw! at the Polo Fields!!
Bon Iver was incredible last night at the Santa Barbara Bowl. Probably the most quiet I've ever seen the crowd there and it was sold out to boot! The band really took advantage of the acoustics there and it was sweet. I got to hear Re:stacks and
Beaches for the first time which was amazing. They also didn't mess up on Beth/Rest like they did at the Shrine. Seeing them three times in the last year has been a real treat and I'm glad. It was so cold it added to the music when the air was blowing.
Screaming Females @ 1-2-3-4 Go! tonight. 50 person venue? Yes please.
I just got back about an hour ago and I find out Refused is playing a secret show at Archeron (150 cap) in Brooklyn tonight. No sleep again?
Screaming Females totally destroyed it tonight at 1-2-3-4 Go! in Oakland. The venue only holds 50 people or so, which is awesome. I love that place. All ages shows, cheap, and they end by 10. This was over at 9:30. Seriously, that girl is a monster on guitar, has a killer voice, and writes great songs. She is super awkward when she isn't being a beast, which is kind of endearing. Anyway, see them near you.
Pretty sure my concert going is down hill from here on out. Sitting front row for Jeff Mangum playing his songs that I have loved so much for years, that at the time I discovered them were all but locked into the form of recorded albums, was such a wonderful fulfilling experience.
Also, nice meeting icyhotshot and nosurprises! Always nice to have a little boardie gathering out front of a theater.
I mean we got a 17 SONG SET. More then I can find from any other show on setlist.fm! Jeff is the man and I hope he continues his music in some fashion always.
Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2
A Baby for Pree
True Love Will Find You in the End (Daniel Johnston cover)
The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1

Last night, Jeff Mangum peformance was the best I've seen out the four times I've seen him.Little Birds was my favorite song preformed. I was really happy to see the Daniel Johnston cover again since last time I was really stoned wondering why I all of sudden wanted to see Daniel Johnston while dazing off during that ATP set. Also it was great to hang out with everyone and finally meeting kitt kat briefly.
Yeah, Jeff Mangum was one of the best shows I've ever been to. It was a million times better than his Coachella set - no comparison. The sound was better, the atmosphere was better, the crowd was better, and he also seemed to be more into it. I will never forget that night.
It was also very nice to meet cutterbutter, nosurprises, NeutralMilkHotel, and getbetter. Hope to see you guys around at more shows!
Arcade Fire - Sir Richard Bishop, Bill Orcutt - Spoon - Paul McCartney - Steve Gunn - Beserktown Fest - Slint - Sleep - Swans - Owen Pallett - Neutral Milk Hotel - Chris Thile & Edgar Meyer - Bobby Bradford Quartet - Matana Roberts - Wadada Leo Smith, Anthony Braxton - Thurston Moore, Sebadoh - Songs for Unseen Warhol Films - Ben Frost, Tim Hecker, Pete Swanson - Ryoji Ikeda - Slowdive - A Winged Victory for the Sullen - John Zorn Marathon
I'll echo all the Mangum praise from last night - easily a Top 5 concert for me. My extra ticket also found a good home to a guy who made it to the venue literally 3 minutes before Jeff went on. Icey, cutter, getbetter, and NMH - it was great meeting you all last night.
Damn I wish I could have gone to that Jeff show... he was great at Coach this past week but the sound wasn't really there. If only I lived in LA, then i'd have gone. The thought of 2 hrs up the freeway makes me want to kill myself though.
Might as well join in on the Mangum praise. a much better set than what i saw at ATP last year. the musical accompaniment is great, and jeff himself has just really loosened up a lot. the setlist was just phenomenal as well. The two spaces I have sene him in now are very comparable, though the Orpheum is just a steller place to see a show. Even from the back row of the floor, the line of sight was absolutely perfect, his voice sounded amazing. and we still didn't feel very far from the stage.

If you can't make it to Death Grips tonight at Origami, here's another chance:
7/1 @ the Echoplex
Jeff was amazing at coachella, but he took my breath away last night. The intensity in his face and how well he stretches his vocals is just remarkable. Hearing thos NMH songs just with him and occasional accompaniment gave some an entirely new meaning to me. I think we are just really lucky to have Jeff back in the buisniess and I hope some new material is around the corner.
