They were like Wavves reject songs. And I like Wavves. It seemed to me the main guy in Oberhofer (his name is Brad Oberhofer) must just have incredibly rich parents that bought him the best studio and producer money can buy and then got him an amazing PR agent. They really were just not very good.

Pond on the other hand, were excelent. They put on a bad ass rock n roll show and I enjoyed every minute of it. I talked to the guitarist after the show, and it turns out they just released their 4th album and this is their first North American tour. He did say that two of the other guys have toured North America with their other band, but I didn't ask what band they were in. I found out this morning that 2 of the band members are from Tame Impala. Go figure. Anyways, Pond fucking rocked and I highly recomend all of you go see them if you had they chance. I wish they were playing Coachella this year.
With Tame Impala playing last year I thought this year might have been a lock for Pond in the fine print .. Maybe next year a Tame Impala return with their new album, and Pond as well. But yeah I got the echo blast email couple Thursdays ago announcing a Pond echo show and I flipped the fuck out, only to find that it was fucking Thursday April 12th. Made me wish I was going 2nd weekend cause who knows when we will get Pond again in the states.

If you get/have Acrobat, not Reader, there is an option to do so. I dont remember if thats free or not? Or you can cheat on a mac and just click print in Preview in whatever application you have and there is a PDF button in the bottom left. Just chance it from "All" to "From" and print 1 to 2 (of your 4) and it will make a new file. Yeaahh, just double check the barcodes.

I'd totally be on that if it was any other night!

Could be better news but glad to see she's touring reasonably close to me all the same. Hmm, the Portland show would allow us to take the trip up there we've been planning for a long time, but would require a couple of days off from work. Oakland would demand no time off and is at a venue I've been to before. Decisions, decisions.

I have to give it up to Jimmy Fallon this month: Pulp, Refused and now Tom Waits

NY gig finally? Crossing my fingers...

"TOM WAITS is heading to NYC this month to perform on late night television. It remains a mystery as to what gems the iconoclast will chose to perform on those stages...but he will be talking with the hosts as well as playing songs for the very first time live from his latest, Bad As Me, "the best-reviewed major album of 2011," according to metacritic.com."

He plays Letterman on April 24 & Fallon on April 25

Surprised that nobody wrote anything about the Bear In Heaven show the other night. Saw them last night up here and am totally confused. Is this the same band? When did the singer start vamping so much. I couldn't stop laughing with his Donny Osmond antics. The music still sounds great (and, boy, their drummer is just amazing), but I can't for the life of me understand why the singer has taken on this new persona (is that what happens when someone cuts off their beard?).

The Magnetic Fields were fantastic in Boston on Saturday. In honor of Passover they did their setlist backwards. I believe it was the almost the same (if not exactly the same) setlist cutter posted, just reversed. Though the encore was still at the end. Claudia seemed to be a little out of it, sick or something, but maybe the main effect was less bitter tension on stage.

The Berklee Performance Center sounds wonderful.

I rather liked hearing DeVotchKa acoustic as an opener; it kept the violin/accordion clear and easy to hear.
