His point is still valid, however... it's $25 in advance for the SF show. $15 here.

And with J.Phlip on that bill as well! That's going to be a great night of music. Gonna be dark. Gonna be dirty. Gonna be sexy as hell.

So amazing. In addition to the Sonus Quartet, he had a backing band with him as well (including Chris Vrenna on drums)... some screens running video through the show...

Lord knows when there will be another opportunity to see something like this again, so happy that I was able to go!
So pumped for this. Buddy that went last night had the same sentiment. Gonna have to really get out of this show to head east in time for the Garbage show. But, this will definitely be the show of the night.

Who cares if its a big show or not. Why talk everything up and try to get shit going. You go or you don't, to enjoy what the band does. Such wankery.

They were excellent. A little rough around the edges. There were quite a few start/stops/starts. Crowd was packed and energy was good but not through the roof. Shirley was in great spirits. Her hair was up in a knot and I like it down (what can I say- love those redheads!). Her vocals were a bit low in the mix for my liking. Actually, the overall sound was too low for the entire band. Could easily have been much, much louder show. We got two new songs. One they closed with and it was probably my favorite of the night, even though it was my first time hearing it. I don't have a setlist but hopefully one pops up. I really liked the new stuff!

The Bootleg is an interesting club. My first time there. High ceilings. Good beer selection. Again, were it not for the somewhat muted sound of the place I'd give it pretty high marks. It's in a shiatty area of town but still, not a bad space at all.

    OMG WE DIDNT KNOW

Where Garbage played is a new part of the venue. The first section you walked into was where all the shows were done until they added the back portion.

    setlist, video soon

I dunno, that was the best LA crowd I've been a part of in some time. People were absolutely ecstatic that the band was playing for them, and that floor was shaking like none other. People were literally partying like it was 1999, haha.

That new song they closed with was fucking killer. By far the heaviest song I've heard of theirs, and the band obviously thinks very highly of it if they have the confidence to close a show (and possibly other shows) with it. The highlight for me was #1 Crush, though. Arguably one of the most darkly seductive songs of the '90s, it was just brilliant live. And I liked that they fucked up a lot, for a band who's written such tightly knit dancey songs, it was nice to see them a bit loose and unpolished for a change.

OH! And motherfucking ERIC AVERY plays bass for Garbage now?!? That was a fantastic surprise. He obviously doesn't have the kind of spotlight role that he had in Jane's Addiction, but still. Fucking ERIC AVERY.

Edit: Ah, apparently he's toured with them in the past. Still.

Didn't realize Eric Avery is playing bass for Garbage in this tour. Excellent show tonight but just like Sonnyboy11 said, the sound had a muted tone to it. The last song 'Battle in me' was probably my favorite song performed! My first time at the bootleg theatre and one thing that was very noticeable was that it has a Very bouncy dance floor.

Coupld of vids. Camera failed on me yet again right when the last song ended, or else there wouldve been that one to go with it.
