Go to the show and then head to the housewarming party straight after. You'll be plenty warm and sweaty. They'll love it.

Wow, Verizon Wireless is pretty big! If he still had A$AP and Kendrick opening, it would be alright. I think rap shows are kind of odd at big amiptheaters like that.

I actually would if it was nearby, but it's way down in Laguna Niguel.

Verizon is not ''big''. You should see the size of some of the other places in the midwest he is performing at. Some can have 25,000+. Verizon barely holds 15,000. Only one reason why Drake booked a tour in these venues, more $$$. Arenas dont have such a high payout as amps do.

    Chris,

Last time I saw them I lost 2 pounds, mostly in sweat, exclusively from their set. You won't hear a single song off Hlllyh, but you WILL see one of the best performances ever. You will witness a band that truly loves performing, and you will witness a crowd that truly loves the band they're watching. It's an incredible time, and the energy there is nigh unmatchable. That having been said, they said the Pehrspace show was supposed to be a one-off, and they're doing this. If that says anything to me, its that they all realized that they realized they're best together, and they're gonna try to make it work again.

That said, DO NOT FUCKING MISS IT. Unlike Pehrspace, they're going to be on a stage and will not have the guitar cables ripped out every other song. It'll be a more cohesive set, and that's pretty much the home of the Mae Shi. They are one of the best live bands around, and it's a blessing to be able to see them again. I'm only missing it because I'll be out of state.

Perfume Genius were excellent tonight, everything he/they played sounded so beautiful. The sound was perfect, everything was crystal-clear. It was my first time at the Bootleg Theater, what a great little place to see a show.

Anyone going to Speak!/Vince Staples tomorrow?

i'm at a point in my life where I've seen enough shows that it's worth it to not miss awesome parties for them. I don;t care how awesome the show is. You're older than me. You'll see other awesome shows.

Who will be very special surprise guests

On Wednesday, May 2nd, 7 p.m., Three Rooms Press presents the NYC book launch for Mike Watt: On and Off Bass at Le Poisson Rouge. The event will feature live performances by Mike Watt + J Mascis + Murph, with opening acts Appomattox and Dead Trend, plus a reading & signing by Mike Watt along with additional very special surprise guests. The new book will be available for purchase at the event.

    Mike Watt + J Mascis + Murph
Mike Watt got his musical start thumping the bass with legendary San Pedro punk trio, The Minutemen in 1980 and over the years, he's toured with his own groups, including Dos, fIREHOSE, The Black Gang, The Secondmen, The Missingmen, and others, and he has worked bass as a sideman for Porno for Pyros, J Mascis and the Fog, as well as punk godfather Iggy Pop and The Stooges. J Mascis and Emmett Jefferson 'Patrick' Murphy (aka Murph) were founding members of Dinosaur Jr., with Mascis listed by Rolling Stone as one of the 100 greatest guitarists of all time

    Appomattox
Appomattox is a high-energy Brooklyn trio that Deli Mag cited on its best of NYC 2011 list, noting Appomattox is “one of the best live bands in town…A welcome change from the usually passive temperament of contemporary rock, this band has found a way to stand out amongst Brooklyn’s crowded backdrop by turning the form on its head and back to its roots as a countercultural force for change.

    Dead Trend
Dead Trend is known for stripping down punk to its bare essentials; their debut EP “Bad Policy” crams six songs into as many minutes and is a welcome howl against the new conservatism and a defense of three-chord classics
the NYC Launch of Mike Watt: On and Off Bass + very special guests

In Mike Watt: On and Off Bass, tour diaries are distilled to their econo essence, and are juxtaposed with his photography from his home bass in San Pedro. Watt’s photos are exquisite and his writing is insightful, funny, and brutally honest, as he explores topics like John Coltrane, drunk female fans, his first performance with Iggy Pop, and lots more.

anyone else caught the Lou Barlow / Sentridoh in-store at Origami the other day? he talked about moving to his parents house, and making the next Dinosaur Jr. album with J at his attic... he also played a couple of requests at the end including On Fire, which he forgot the beginning of the second verse... quite funny.. here's some footage.

I don't know why of Montreal was getting such a bad rap...their show at the Fillmore last night was great. Set list was very diverse and the visuals/sound was spot on in there. Maybe it was due to the show being at the Fillmore, but they were just as good as other times I've seen them.

Of course, Deerhoof were great. They need to do a headline set in that room soon.

The Magnetic Fields were absolutely lovely last night. Thoroughly enjoyed sitting back and relaxing with an audience that didn't feel the need to sing along and just wanted to listen to their music. Its not often you get to just listen to a group's lyrics from just their own voices, and clearly enough to digest them. That along with their live arrangements made it feel like hearing many of the songs for the first time again. John Woo is also a wonderful guitar player. And the Orpheum. What a beautiful theater. I'm so pleased that I'll be returning there for Jeff Mangum next month.

    Setlist:
    I Die
A Chicken With Its Head Cut Off
    Your Girlfriend's Face
    Reno Dakota
    Come Back From San Francisco
No One Will Ever Love You
I've Run Away to Join The Fairies
    Plant White Roses
    Drive On Driver
    My Husband's Pied-A-Terre
    Time Enough for Rocking
    The Horrible Party
    Smoke and Mirrors
    Goin' Back to the Country
    Andrew in Drag
    Quick!
    Busby Berkeley Dreams
    Boa Constrictor
    The Book of Love
    Fear of Trains
You Must Be Out of Your Mind
    Grand Canyon
    Swinging London
    It's Only Time
Smile! No One Cares How You Feel (The Gothic Archies cover)

    Encore:
    Tar-Heel Boy
    Forever and a Day
