Post Suggest 5 Movies for Christmas

I need to pick 5 holiday movies from NetFlix. The wife is suggesting Love Actually. They do not need to have a Christmas theme. Any recommendations?
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

For me, Christmas movies begin and end with Bad Santa. Nothing else comes close.

This is a good list. I think The Royal Tenenbaums would be at the top of my picks too. It somehow feels really Christmas-y without actually being a "Christmas movie."

Also: The Apartment, Wings of Desire (the Wim Wenders version, not the Meg Ryan crap), Central Station and Amelie. Even though I sort of hate on Amelie on occasion. It seems right for the holidays.

And if you want to get something kid-friendly, definitely Home Alone and the original Willy Wonka.

Exactly. That's one of the things I love about it, it has that feeling without being an explicitly Christmas movie. I watch it every Christmas Eve.

Seriously! I couldn't believe that wasn't at the top of the list.

I like this list very much. The Apartment is a great pick and Amelie is one of my all time favorites. I'll have to add City of Lost Children, as that has some holiday spirt. Scary Santas. My all time favorite "christmas" family movie would have to be March of the Wooden Soldiers aka: Babes in Toyland

Very good, I thought about putting Amelie on my list. I haven't seen Central Station, but I want to, and Home Alone holds up surprisingly well. I just watched it a few days ago and was surprised at how well it's aged. And of course violence on Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern will always be funny.

So you want Christmas movies that don't have to have a Christmas theme? So you're just asking for five movies?

Either way you should get Big Trouble in Little China.
