    Default Good music dvd's ???

    List 'em up folks ............

I personally recommend the Later...... with Jools Holland series of dvd's. Numerous clips of bands from the shows. Each dvd is a mixed bag of sorts although there is a theme to each dvd. They're not that easy to get so you'll have to look online.

    Over to joo.

Amoeba isn't everywhere. I had to google it as I didn't even know who/what Amoeba was.

That release was a disgrace. They should be ashamed of themselves for releasing that crap.

WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT?

No no no, seriously. What the FUCK are you talking about? The shots in that DVD are fucking gorgeous. You're really going to claim the quality of video in Pompeii is better than PULSE?

    Jesus Christ.

I haven't seen Pompeii so I can't compare but the quality of the footage of Pulse is embarassing.

I thought NIN's And All That Could Have Been was better than Beside You In Time... Despite the latter being recorded here in El Paso.

I just recently purchased ELO's Live at Wembley for about 9 dollars at Circuit City. The little effects on the recordings are sort of annoying, but the performance was killer.

Honestly, I think you're completely mistaken or you're watching a bad copy or something. The DVD of PULSE is fucking picture perfect.

No, no it's not. It was shot on video, not film and should not have been released. The sound is excellent though.

    And something I c&p'd from Amazon.com

Why was the Pink Floyd Pulse DVD release delayed yet again? Hear the truth from David Gilmour himself.

David Gilmour Speaks! from the May 2006 issue of Guitar World magazine (Vol. 27/No. 5), "Shine On" an interview by Alan Di Perna. The following is a full quote from the interview concerning the Pulse DVD release (pp.96-98):

"GW: Speaking of live shows, why is the Pulse DVD coming out later this year, some 12 years after the Division Bell tour?

GILMOUR: It was out on VHS long ago. We had a lot of technical problems converting it to DVD. It was shot on video rather than film, which I now think was a mistake: it doesn't look very good when you enlarge it on a big screen television, which everyone seems to have these days. We'd been investigating all sorts of ways to digitally enhance the footage.

The intent of this thread was for me to start rounding out my collection. I have several of the Jools Holland dvds, most of the U2 ones, most Rory Gallagher dvds, the Zep dvd listed above and some odds and ends. On a whim, I picked up the new Pearl Jam dvd a couple of weeks ago and it looked great. Partially HD, partially handycam, it's really well put together.

can anyone recommend a New Order DVD to pick up? there seem to be several options and i'm wondering which gives me more value for money - preferrably something with both music videos and live footage

New Order - New Order Story
    New Order - 316

Both of those would be great. New Order story is pretty much every video of theirs on disc 1 (which is awesome) and a documentry of the band on disc two. 316 is a couple live performances (from 1981 and Reading 98 - their 'reunion' show).

New Order - 511 is a concert from 2001 I think....awesome set list though, so if you're a big fan, I'd pick this one up as well...but I would probably start with The New Order story. Then 316 if you want live performances.

flaming lips - ufos at the zoo
it captures every magical aspect of their live show. it's like christmas day on a dvd.

    oasis - there and then
the gallagher bros at the peak of their career. they've never sounded better. or at least, if they have, it's never been captured on dvd.

    gorillaz - demon days live
awesome live show, captured well. all of the guest vocalists from Demon Days make appearances, except for MF Doom and Dennis Hopper. they even have a gospel choir and a children's choir on stage for the relevant songs. I like the live renditions of the songs a lot.
