I swear. Y'all need to really HEAR that song, because it's the perfect way to cap that album off.

I'm having a hard time understanding why people are getting hung up on how 80's prom it sounds. Everything he has done post-For Emma, whether Bon Iver or his other projects, has been signaling a shift in this direction. Or at least making it so this isn't unexpected.

If that fucker sparks off a Michael Bolton blouse rock revival, I'm going to choke a bitch.

And if 80s prom songs were usually so full of emotional weight and excellent instrumentation, I don't have a problem with them coming back en vogue.

Seriously, the best thing I can think to say about it is that it sounds like a shitty karaoke library version of something good.

If it were on a GAYNGS album, I'd be ok with it. Not on a Bon Iver album.

I'm ending this debate: it's a great song. My opinion > your opinion. We take more drugs than a touring funk band. Sing it.

I'm listening to it now with "excellent instrumentation" in mind and I've decided if they changed instruments to something less 80s-sounding, it would be ok. The song itself I don't mind. It's the actual instruments they use. Especially the sax.

It's nice, reminiscent of Iron and Wine, but it feels more authentic to me. The harmonies are beautiful. I normally hate this kind of music, for the record.
Seriously Jared, it's insane how on the ball you are with this. I waited til Summer of '08 to listen to Vernon. Do you have a sixth sense for good under-the-radar music?

Right. The sax, and the Casio demo track intro. Gah. Gaaah aaah.

Hahaha! I'm going to watch Empire Strikes Back and look for a floating frozen bear in the background swamps of Dagobah... it's got to be there, somewhere...

Now I'm seriously considering skipping Outside Lands and taking a few vacation days to drive up to Portland instead.

Yeah I just saw that. So I have three days to plan. Ok I can do this. Buy tickets first, figure out logistics later. I wish I knew who booked the Shrine show.
