thanks. the touchit remix is unfinished because it's mainly just an 8 bar loop at the moment. Busta's vocals were difficult to warp into a steady rhythm because he inserts extra syllables and goes in and out of triplets, screwing up ableton's automatic warping algorithm. I spent far too long tweaking those and not enough arranging the beat itself. Basically it's still in the early stages.

oh and also I can't take credit for the techonologic sample. That was in Busta's original, it's part of the acapella track that I used.

Yeah...I was listening to it today on the way home from work...bumpin' it...nice work.

PS - Do you know if Ableton Live 5.2 has that auto-warping algorythm? That's the only Ableton I have...I do most of my beats on Fruity Loops...

Also, yeah, don't tell me - there's major sound level transition glitches on this mix. I made it too fast.

sorry didn't catch this yesterday. Version 5 have does auto-warp. it does it by default actually, and you have to turn it off if you for some reason don't want your sample locked to the project tempo. It's usually pretty reliable. There are several ways you can tell it to estimate the warp makers. It can either estimate them by analyzing the beat, or for less percussive samples you can set it to warp by tonal changes, or some other transients (there's more to it than that but I don't have my manual handy)

Check out Live's warp demo (this is version 6 though, I don't think 5 can warp multiple tracks at the same time, you have to do them individually)

Nice! I'll hafta try that...makes remixing much easier I'm sure...I always did my mashups by ear but this will help! Maybe I'll do a whole MP3 mix of my own remixes...we'll see if I can figure out this warp thing...

live makes creating mashups pretty damn easy. The auto-warping is usually pretty solid, it's only vocal samples that it has trouble with.

Just remember when pushing and pulling warp markers on a vocal (assuming the beat track is warped correctly):
    - if the syllable or other sound appears to be coming in a bit early relative to the beat then you have to lock a warp point (double click to make it yellow) and pull it in a bit (to the left).
    - If the syllable sounds slow or lags just behind the beat, you have to push the marker out a bit (to the right).

    It takes practice.

Yo..I just tried it and it sounded like crap...maybe just becasue I'm not used to the ableton stuff...I could get it sometimes, but it would double up the vox sometimes and mess with the tempo. Weird shite...

I just recently noticed that several of my favorite Meat Puppets albums from the '90's are currently not in distribution. I guess they were right - they don't exist. Dammit, that's not right!

Don't let their flame die out! I love these songs.

    MEAT MIX

    1. Backwater
    2. Flaming Heart
    3. Whirlpool
    4. Sam
    5. Why
    6. Vampires
    7. Severed Goddess Hand
    8. That's How it Goes
    9. Taste of the Sun
    10. We Don't Exist
    11. No Longer Gone
    12. This Day
    13. Shine
    14. Things
    15. Another Moon
    16. Station
    17. Comin' Down
