I know what you mean, though, Tom. None of my teams are even competing right now (Hawkeyes, Sonics) and I'm still finding myself getting unbelievably upset at the calls (or lack of calls) on the big stage. I'm used to total inconsistency in the NBA, but when did college refs take it upon themselves to follow their lead?

UCLA is basically the equivalent of the Bulls/Jordan in the 90's - when the game is on the line, refs won't make the correct call because of its polarizing effect if, God forbid, UCLA should lose a game. Or Michael against the Jazz, against Brian Russell for the game-winner, no one will ever convince me that he didn't totally shove Russell out of the way (aka a foul), and yet it's one of the most played highlights there is. Equality would be nice in sports, but I've given up.

no ref wants to make the call that pushes John Wooden over the edge into the abyss. "Hey -- ain't you da ref that made that call that killed Wooden?"

The ref crew that worked the Suns/Pistons game must have worked the Warriors/Lakers last night. Ridiculous. Fisher pulls Ellis to the ground and they call an offensive foul on Ellis. Did I mention this was on an inbounds before the ball was thrown in? Oh, the Warriors were down by two with the ball and that there was 4 sec. left in OT??? A ref has to know that when he does something like that with 4 seconds left, he's basically deciding who wins for both teams involved. To see a great, hard -fought game played by both teams come down to a judgement call by a ref is just sickening. If that wasn't bad enough, I woke up to watch my A's lose in 10 innings...

Yeah, not to mention they give the benefit of the doubt to Derek Fisher. As in one of the biggest floppers of all-time, Derek Fisher. He's got plenty of poundage on Ellis, that's a clear of a flop as I've seen anyone in recent memory pull off (besides Manu Ginobili on a 5-10x nightly basis). No feel for the game by refs anymore, and with the West as tight as it is, it's terrible to see the stripes making plays to help decide crucial matchups.

they were talking about that GS call on the radio here this morning.

the NBA wonders why it engenders conspiracy theories. last year the Sterns got the break and this year the league seems intent on making sure the Flakers win the division. sometimes I wonder why I follow this sport.

that was a very satisfying game last night. Amare Nash and Shaq combined for like 96 points. Suns scored 81 pts in the 2nd half. what a fun comeback.

That was an impressive comeback last night. I was unsure who I wanted to win. I was routing for the Nuggets so if the Suns meet the Jazz in the first round the Jazz would be one game closer to home court advantage, but at the same time the race for playoff spots in the west is extremely tight and if Jazz slip up at all and Denver wins their games they could take over the Northwest division which would suck. However, I don't think the seeds are going to matter at all this year in the west. As the playoff picture stands right now anyone could beat anyone regardless of what seed they are.

Please do it again tonight. My Warriors are up against the Sterns in San Antonio, and a little breathing room would be nice. Man, this is gonna be a great month for basketball in the wild wild west.

tonight will be very interesting. both teams are gonna be tired.

you know it struck me last night that the Nuggets are really a bunch of underperformers. Which may seem harsh given that they're playing .600 ball in the tough conference, but still: Iverson, Anthony, Camby, Martin. they oughta be in 1st place not 9th.

All talented, but none are known for distributing the ball. Too much 1-1, and isolation. Not enough assists with Denver. If they had a true solid point guard, that team would be sick.

I agree....The nuggets don't have a leader. George Karl is a lazy fat SOB. Hes here for the paycheck and free steaks at Elways. They all want to score and be in the spotlight. PASS THE BALL!

    Nuggets Defense is non-existent.

George Karl is whining about Martin being suspended for one game because he's over the limit for flagrant fouls for the year... he says the NBA "picks on" the Nuggets. Whatever... Matt Barnes is missing a game for the same reason, but you don't hear Don Nelson crying about the circumstances.

New Orleans needs to lose, which they are doing right now. Phoenix also needs to lose, as does Houston. If San Antonio and the Lakers lose as well that would be good. So pretty much 5 of the top 8 teams of the west need to lose. This is how it will be the rest of the season.

Ah it was great watching the Mavs lose to the Lakers!

    Lakers win tonight......

can't wait to see Gasol and Bynum work together this year.

Odom comes through when he is not the first pick on the court. I love his lay ups....def needs to attack the basket more

I'm new to the thread, but as a lifelong New York Knicks fan, I clearly have little constructive to add.

Still, it's always nice going in to the postseason with no emotional investment. I can just enjoy the games, and maybe hope not to see the Spurs or Pistons make it to the finals.

Warriors just arent going to make it in. They have had a very good season, but it takes a great season to make into the playoffs from the west this year. Too damn bad. I dont see them being able to get the big man they need w/o giving up something big as well. Don Nelson's status is up in the air again too. I think they need to put Mullin on the sidelines.

-great win today for the Mavs. WTF Suns???

Yeah, no doubt. The Warriors have too many of the same-type players, I guess they could package a deal involving Jackson, Harrington and/or Azabuike over the offseason for some size. But then again that could affect their depth, they basically only used 6 players today.

Nelson's days are numbered, that organization HAS to be getting itchy.

It's too bad, I'd like to see the Warriors become an elite team. I've been pulling for them since the Run TMC days..

But we're on our way back to respectability now that Donnie Walsh is on board...(Yeah, right).

Anyway, I watched the second half of that Dallas/Phoenix game earlier. I wasn't pulling for the Mavs. I enjoy seeing Cuban on the brink of losing his shit.
