Thread: It's NBA time

was a very romantic evening last night. The dim lights, the yellow stained silent crowd, and Kobe's pre-game meeting:

Kobe Bryant Holds Kobe-Bryant-Only Meeting To Discuss Lakers

LOS ANGELES—After a tumultuous and disappointing first half of their season, Kobe Bryant reportedly called a Kobe-Bryant-only meeting Thursday to air out the many issues still plaguing the Lakers. “There are 29 games to go and we’re still under .500, so everybody needs to step their game up right now,” Bryant reportedly said during the closed-door talks, which did not include coaches, upper management, or any of the other 13 players on the Lakers’ roster. “I’m sick of hearing excuses about shoulder injuries or trade speculation. We should be contending for the title, but I feel like I’m the only one out there who even gives a damn. And frankly, that’s pathetic.” Reached for comment, Bryant told reporters the meeting was “very positive,” as it was unanimously agreed that the 15-time All-Star should get more of the ball during games.

Obviously the the Heat won but it's not like Durant had a bad game by any means so I don't think to much was cleared up last night for the front runner. However LeBron's tear the past 2 weeks I'm pretty sure is what made him the front runner for MVP.

LeBron severely outplayed Durant to put the game out of reach. It wasn't even close. Durant scored almost all of his points after his team was down 15+ points. Durant obviously played very well, but LeBron played well when it mattered most because he led the Heat to an insurmountable lead. Also, I think the game illustrated that LeBron has more of an affect on more facets of the game than does Durant. It's easier to see when they're on the court at the same time.

I agree with you but when the voters go to vote at the end of the season and look back they are just going to see the box score stats and will see 40 points by Durant and 39 by LeBron. Either way LeBron has pretty much locked it up this past two weeks baring any injury or Durant somehow goes and outdoes LeBron's streak he just had.

LeBron didn't even shoot 60% last night, his career is clearly on the decline. Skip Bayless was right.

The best was when that fan sitting courtside started chirping at him on the left wing, then he proceeded to net four consecutive shots looking over at him after each make. Dude is unstoppable.

It should be noted though that D-Wade and Bosh are both playing great as well, LBJ is just taking all the attention away, and deservedly so.

Never going to happen, especially if this Garnett for Bledsoe aand D'Andre Jordan trade goes through, which I doubt will happen also.

I think both Ye-Yo and Keys sounded horrible. The sound mix was pretty bad for anyone with lead vocals, and did anyone even have a monitor tonight?

Certainly a head scratcher. Thomas Robinson shipped as part of a mega 3 team deal to the Rockets
    http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/89...ouston-rockets

Multiple media outlets are reporting the Kings will send Robinson, Francisco Garcia, Tyler Honeycutt and a future second-round pick to the Houston Rockets as part of a three-way deal that also involves the Phoenix Suns.

In return, the Kings would receive Patrick Patterson, Cole Aldrich, Toney Douglas and additional money from the Rockets, according to the reports.

The Suns are set to receive Marcus Morris from the Houston Rockets for a second-round pick, sources told ESPN The Magazine's Chris Broussard.

I don't see how that makes any of the teams any better or any worse. I agree certainly a head scratcher. Unless of course it is a precorser for one of the teams to make a move for somebody else and this just makes it easier to do that.

The Suns have cornered the market on genetically identical black men named Morris. After drafting Robin Lopez and Markieff Morris they must have concluded it's better to have the more talented twin on your roster. Or both of them.

They gave up a 2nd round pick in a god awful draft, worth the risk. Good for T-Rob going to Houston though. Kings are a black hole

Nothing wrong with the suns getting Morris, it just isn't a move that really makes them any better or worse, they just sort of stay where they are.

I think it's a good trade for the Rockets. They gave up spare parts and some cap flexibility for a package that includes a guy with plenty of upside in Thomas.

So the trade deadline has passed now and not surprisingly no major deals where made. Only notable trades is J.J. Redick to the Bucks and Jordan Crawford to the Celtics. I am a little surprised that Atlanta didn't move Josh Smith though.

im really surprised about the Lakers didn't make a move and about Josh Smith staying put in ATL. He should've been dealt somewhere for something. Draft picks at least.

Well they have been saying all along that they weren't going to deal Dwight and Pau being injured sort of lowers his value. However if the Lakers can play like they did last night the rest of the season they will be fine, but we all know that isn't going to happen. Yeah Atlanta is crazy for not dealing Smith. Ther is probably a good 95% chance of him leaving at the end of the season so why not get something for him? Apparently they were in a three team deal for him but that broke down at the last moment.

I am most surprised that the Jazz didn't make a move. Surely they aren't going to re-sign both Milsap & Jefferson. Could they not have got some sort of return on one of them ?

They lost in a great game but for those of you that missed Steph Currys 54 I am sorry.

On another note there were many board members who were killing the Griz for trading Gay. Don't look now but they've won their last 8 games.
