I do think they are going to struggle closing games now without Rudy

I agree with this whole-heartedly, and as talented as I think Gay is if I were a GM he's the last guy I'd be bringing to town to try and energize the fan base. It's a juvenile thought, but how many Raptor's fans are gonna run out and drop $100 on a jersey that says GAY on the back?

If he didn't say he hated he Lakers and could never play for them only to go to them a month later I think it would be different.

Also Kobe giving up a wide open dunk and taking the assist. Is he going for the assist title now this season?

Heh, that's actually not that juvenile of a point. Maybe Canadians are a little more progressive than Americans. I'm curious to know how popular "Gay" jerseys were in Memphis. If I was a Grizzlies fan, and I actually wore jerseys, I wouldn't have a problem wearing one. But I know how people are.

Just waiting for his reality series, "That's So Gay," coming to E! two seasons after he retires from the NBA.

I understand the cost cutting rationale behind the Griz making this move but it is risky. They had a pretty damn good front court and seemed to have reasonable chemistry. Prince is well past his best ( never understood why Joe resigned him anyway ) but Daye could be anything. Ed Davis is the key and has loads of potential and should be an excellent backup to ZBo and Gasol. If he develops it is a good trade for Memphis, if doesn't then they shed a max deal for a look at young big with huge upside on a rookie deal. Quite a few "ifs" for a previously very stable team.

The Pistons get a free look an excellent play maker who comes with huge defensive flaws but should be stable locker room guy and good influence on the young guys. They weren't championship material anyway so the risk is much lower. Worst case they have cleared a nice amount of cap room to have a crack this off season.

Toronto have taken a big punt on an underachieving max player who is a questionable on court fit with the young swingmen already there. DeMar & Ross are still developing and will either click nicely with Gay or be impeded by him. I would like this deal a lot more for the Raps if they could now somehow move Bargnani for his exact opposite - a big who defends and can score in the post when called upon. The problem with that plan is that everyone wants a big who defends and can score but there is just not that many around let alone available. The team has talent but not balance.

I will watch with interest to see how this all shakes out.

That might be the worst Lakers loss of the season. Overall such an ugly game from both teams.

Suns, as the Clips found out, are tough at home. Playing hard for Lindsey Hunter. Remember him?

Speaking of Clips, nice win in Minnesota on Adelman's return to the sidelines. Rubio is an incredible visionary. Too bad he can't shoot.

In all honesty this was the biggest game of the year for the Suns with Nash returning and it being on national TV and those great throw backs. Only game worth watching all year for the Suns. Fuck you Robert Sarver

A video tribute to Nash during a first-quarter timeout drew a rousing standing ovation from the crowd.
The majority of people in Arizona still do love Steve Nash.

I am not part of that majority. A lot of good he's doing the lakers anyways.

And booing someone from another team is fair game. He is not a suns player anymore.

That was a sloppy game from both teams but the lakers should be ashamed. An all-star team loosing to a young group of kids like that.

You are talking about Steve Nash. If nothing else he deserves respect from Suns fans. You are everything that is wrong with the Phoenix fan base.

What I donít understand is when Dwight went down re-aggravating his shoulder, why the Phoenix crowd booed so heavily? Do they hate Dwight or are they typically that disrespectful when opposing players get hurt. In the hundreds of Lakers games Iíve been to, I donít recall the home crowd ever cheering another playerís injury or booing to his agony while down.

Itís usually followed by a respectful applause as the player exits the court, which I did not hear following the boobirds last night.

Suns fans just really hate the Lakers for being everything they are not, so they boo over anything. One way rivalry

Dwight is not well liked by NBA fans. Neither are the Lakers. I thought this was common knowledge at this point.

Just know that the arena was about half full of Lakers fans. The boos and cheers at a Lakers game in Phoenix can get confusing.

Wait, really? You wouldn't give up 1 pick for Josh Smith? No other pieces just a draft pick? Wooooooooow. This is why fans can't be GMs lol

Suns always give up their picks. I'd love to have Josh Smith, but not if it includes losing lottery picks. We are years away from having a decent team.

    This^^

Rudy Gay is a great player, but that team was improving without him last year. The Grizzlies may actually improve with Tayshaun Prince on the roster. He won't demand the ball as much and his championship experience (albeit from roughly a decade ago) could serve well in the playoffs.
