Default Your Most Favorite Music-Related Item

    What is it?

Do you have some sort of music memorabilia of which you're especially fond? An original pressing of Agaetis Byrjun? A Beastie Boys poster from their Hello Nasty tour? A sweatshirt from the first Coachella? Ticket stubs from the night you met your significant other?

I want to know. Tell us what the item is, why it's your favorite, and share a photo if you can!

I have a "bowling bag" I bought in 2006 at Coachella that I love. I have a Duran Duran poster from when I was in junior high that is a treasure. I have a quilt made out of concert t-shirts and countless other shirts that I cherish.

I have a signed picture of me and Trent Reznor from 1994. Too bad I look like a dork in it. I've posted it here before but I'm not sure where. :/

edited: sorry that it is a xanman type item.

Twiggy Ramirez/Jeordie Whites Bass strap from the With Teeth tour SOMA stop in San Diego.

John 5's guitar (majority of it) from the Guns God and Government DVD filming in LA a few years back

Tie for both of those. Both great shows

Mt favorite item would have to be a story written for and about me by Emmy the Great, followed by an original watercolor from Asobi Seksu. Both are awesome, unique, and unusual compared to the other items in my collection.

I tried but failed to win one of Jarvis cocker's suits on the coachella cruise, otherwise that would be up there. So close.

For more traditional items, favorite signed album would be bat for lashes' haunted man cd. The sleeve got all messed up during a clusterfuck, but she gave it a special peace sign to "guide me on my journey" because I was tripping balls at the time. Unsigned would be my first pressing of different class with the changeable covers. Setlist would be arcade fire and Emmy the great (both handwritten and handed to me by the artist).

A quilt sounds like a great idea. I never wear most of my shirts.

I've got a drumstick that I caught from Interpol at Curiosa back in 2004. Interpol aren't my favorite band or anything, but it was pretty awesome to catch a drumstick at a stadium show.

I just have a bunch of signed shit from Trent Reznor including a key from a keyboard. I think we've done this somewhere before because I've already told these stories.

I used to have a t-shirt that was thrown off the stage right into my hands by some really hot chick (that may or may not have actually been officially associated with the show) that was stripping on stage during Pigface's set on their r10th Anniversary tour but I decided to throw it away because it seemed really weird.

Did he smash a keyboard and everyone grabbed a key?

I have a ticket stub scrapbook of every show I have ever been to, which also includes some setlists, wristbands and whatnot. Some of the tickets got wiped clean from bong cleaner a few years back but you can still somewhat make out what they said. Pretty sure a good amount of those were from Modest Mouse shows back in 2004.

Also that quilt idea is something I have been working on. I have a bunch of old band shirts that are either too small or just unwearable that would make a great big old blanket.

Sigur Fucking Ros shirt from 2005 Takk tour at the Hollywood Bowl. Still even have the bad the shirt came in because it had the Takk boy on it.

Also have a broken guitar pick that Richie Havens used that my dad gave to me. However as cool as it is to have I don't have any sentimental attachment to it as I wasn't at that show nor was I the one to pick it up, but it's still pretty fucking cool to me to have.

Ha! And probably no more weird that having any other random stranger's clothing around your house. Which now that I'm tying it out, does indeed sound pretty odd.

I have half of a handkerchief from the cowboy in the Village People. I got half because another girl and I opted to split it in two rather than wrestle for it.

I've got a vial of Jon Bon Jovi's semen. I've been thinking about selling it on eBay, it just doesn't hold the same draw for me that it used to.

Definitely my Guns n' Roses shirt I bought in the parking lot at the San Diego stop of the Use Your Illusion tour. It's the best bootleg shirt ever. Still fits and is in good condition after 21 years of regular wear.

My actual favorites are my J. Mascis signature guitar picts that he uses for tours. My dad skis with his guitar tech and when a Dino J. song came on the outdoor speakers one lunch the guy mentioned that he worked with them and my dad said, "Oh, my son LOVES Dinosaur." The guy brought me a handful of those picts and they're what I use to play now.

Several birthdays ago my late father gave me a signed promo vinyl album of Michael Jackson's Thriller. It was signed by the man himself and Quincy Jones. From what I'm told, the story is Quincy used to own a store here in Anchorage and when he came up after that album was released, he brought a couple of signed promos with him and decided to give them away, one of which went to my father's friend who helped him with the store. Once Michael passed away, he was going to sell it for big money but with my birthday coming up (and since I loved Michael Jackson as a child), my father bought it from him for a discounted price.

    Best birthday present ever.

Also, though not in ink, it looks like Quincy was writing other things on top of the album which got imprinted onto the album cover. We can't make it out at all except for one word, "ketchup".

Roger Taylor of Duran Duran tossed me his drumsticks when I was in front row at a show in Wales. I only got one, but it's in a shadow box on a shelf in my office, along with my ticket, and my lanyard and photos with the band.

I've also seen that Cocahella green bowling bag of Gunz's, and it is indeed awesome.
