Pitchfork gives it an 8.
I can't wait to see this movie.I wonder if Cate Blanchett is lip-synching Karen O as Bob doing Highway 61?

So the reason I did it?
Convenient/lazy way to link to a bunch of info about the soundtrack, and avoid typing a lot of stuff.
I think my new favorite Dylan lyric has become "can you tell me where we're headin ? Lincoln County Road or Armageddon ? "
This has narrowly surpassed "The ghost of electricity howls in the bones of her face Where these visions of Johanna have now taken my place "
Which is also genius.

also. this is my favorite.
"I repeated that my friends were all in jail, with a sigh / He gave me his card, he said, 'Call me if they die'"
Best of the soundtrack IMO as of today:
5. Charlotte Gainsbourg - Just Like a Woman
4. Antony and the Johnsons - Knockin On Heavens Door
3. Mason Jennings - The Times They Are A Changing
2. The Hold Steady - Please Crawl Out Your Window
1. Stephen Malkmus - Ballad of a Thin Man
Todd Haynes is an incredibly film maker. I am very excited for this movie. The soundtrack is pretty fuckin good too.
As for pitchfork. I don't mind it. They have a great staff of reviewers, are picky, but know how to have a good time. I get tired of people complaining about the "consistency" of their ratings, it's just a bunch of reviewers, they don't have some impeccable, coherent point of view. That said, they are by no means the end all be all, but they aren't a bad place to peek in on to see what might be worth checking out.
doesnt tom verlaine play guitar on the sonic youth track?...

He is in the Million Dollar Bashers and they are on at least 5 of the tracks.

You know that "Control" is playing at the Loft in Tucson starting November 9? It's a 5 minute walk from my apartment so I think I'll be heading there opening weekend. And while I'm not the biggest Todd Haynes fan (couldn't get into "Velvet Goldmine" or "Far From Heaven"), I'm anxiously anticipating "I'm Not There." As for my favorite Dylan lyric (no, I don't think that's a ridiculous notion):
And when we meet again, introduced as friends, please don't let on that you knew me when. (from "Just Like a Woman")
I hope this is finally on demonoid because I really want some of these songs. Scored the Charlotte Gainsbourg cover on a random blog, and Cat Power is on the myspace, but streaming audio sucks.
Speaking of Cat Power, what's the song that she provided for that diamond store commercial? Excerpt of the lyrics: "I want to tell you/That I love you/But I can't find the right words." Is it available on a CD? (I'm archaic and like having physical copies of songs.)
It's a cover of Cat Stevens' "How Can I Tell You" and is not on CD or mp3, sadly.
