I think she's asking about his experience with people who might judge him for not being "obviously" handicapped (i.e. not in a wheelchair, can walk, looks healthy).

Fair enough, but I still don't understand how that's comparable to Steve questioning someone who parked in a handicapped spot without a placard.

How about a word that actually means what people are attempting to say? Look up what "entitle" and "entitlement" mean in a dictionary and then compare those definitions to the ways they have been thrown around on this board recently.

And yes, the idea that a person with a handicap placard asking a person without one why they are parking in that spot is much different than somebody asking a person with a visible handicapped placard what their ailment is and how they got that placard.

OMG I just find it very convenient that they want to be thought of as "handicapped" when it comes to things like parking, ramps, etc., but they prefer "handicapable" or some other euphemism when they DON'T want to be different. Talk about entitlement, I mean srsleigh it's as if they don't think they're lucky enough already.

I only approach/confront people who park in those spots without the proper credentials. Why would I otherwise? Their disability is none of my business. If someone comes up to me it depends on how I am approached. People don't often say anything when they see the placard because why should they, but I get plenty of shitty looks, head shakes, glares from judgmental idiots. When they do speak up I have had several come up and just say with touch of attitude "you don't look handicapped" and I reply with a kindly "Thank you for your professional opinion, doctor" or a "Well, you do" if they are especially shitty in tone. Fun to say "isn't it crazy what they'll give a person that's waiting for a double lung transplant?" because they ain't got shit to say after that. I have lots of witty one liners in my arsenal. When they approach me nicely I have no problem explaining my illness to them and they move on, usually after offering prayers/moral support.

I don't blame Steve at all for reacting the way he did. Some people get what they deserve. It's very easy for someone to sit back and pretend like it's simple to turn the other cheek when it comes to a situation like this. I am willing to bet he has been forced to let this situation go in the past -- numerous times. Everyone has their tipping point and people that like those who take advantage of special privileges given to those who actually need certain advantages to live a normal life are pieces of shit and get what's coming to them.

    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

I had to knock the door into someone's car today for essentially the same thing. I was parked in a handicapped spot with the "no parking" blue criss-crossing next to the passenger side. The person parking in the non-handicapped spot filled almost all of that zone and thus made it impossible to get my mom's wheel chair into that spot, let alone opening her door wide enough that she could get in. So yeah, fuck that person and lazy assholes who can't bother to respect handicapped spots.

Yeah, and everyone in a Mercedes can go fuck themselves. If he didn't deserve it for parking in the spot, he probably deserved it for something else.

I had one buddy who--as a Sophomore in college--had made enough money to buy top of the line BMW cash because he'd become the drug supplier to four college campuses. He was also a nutjob. He spent all of a week if that actually giving a fuck about keeping this car in good shape, and then just found the fact that he was driving something this expensive to be a massive joke. We would pull in to convenience store parking lots, higher than all fuck and laughing our balls off about God knows what, and he would just FLING his door open at light speed DIRECTLY into the car next to him--frequently, these cars still had people in them. Dickish, sure, but my lord, their reaction faces were hilarious. He'd dent the fuck out of his 80,000 dollar car just to put the 50th dent into a decade-old Civic with two little beach girls sitting in it and then cackle like a madman at them while they tried to make sense of it.

I was acquainted with the rough equivalent of that guy in my school. Drove a purple Lexus and didn't give a fuck because the cops were on the take. Would flop into a bar and order a pitcher of vodka. His blow all smelled like his nasty cologne so he'd know when folks found stuff that wasn't his. He'd sell coke folds out of his pocket for fun, made with hardcore gay porn. Interesting guy. I'm sure he's dead right now.

Amy posed this question to Steve while completely ignoring context.
Maybe the people he's harassing forgot to put the handicap placard up. Maybe they have breathing problems (or other problems that are not as noticeable as a wheelchair). I remember Steve both complaining when other people question his handicapped-ness as well as Steve remarking how he has harassed people for parking in a handicap spot (without a placard/special license plate).
