Yeah, a lot of people are asking for a boxset. Maybe Warp is waiting for the perfect time to release BOC old works. They have a gold mine there.
I call a 4CD BoCset.

I'd take just about anything from them at this point. Old, new, whatever.

hmmmm
Has anyone realized about the sound effect on Radiohead's 15 Steps at 2:13?
They love BoC.
Well, Radiohead love Warp, but this sound effect is pretty sweet. The drums sound pretty Autechre too.

Yeah, All i need sounds a lot like Roygbiv.
my thoughts exactly
yes I agree on that, very ROYGBIVish
Hmm, this looks interesting...
ohh i have this its filthy
the old tunes have been available for a few years, though they've never officially been recognized as being real/confirmed or not by the band. I would love to see an official release of the tracks though, or at least someone who has a copy of these rare tapes (I think one was on ebay once) get a proper transfer and flac em!
Well, looks like those tapes (or some of them) were confirmed like theirs by Marcus in a recent interview. He said that they should have been more careful about who they handed the tapes, and even that they think they know who leaked them. I know they've been working with past compilations, demos, lots of unheard work from 1980ish, trying to organize them, and probably release them someday. But it's more like an aside project, so it will take time.

i dont get why theyre so weird about their old stuff. granted its not as good, but who cares. its different. its old.
They said somewhere that some of the old work doesn't fit with the BOC thing, so they couldn't release that stuff under the BoC project, but like I said in the other post, they've been working in an aside project organizing some of their old material (hopefully to be released anytime soon). Back in the days, there were rumors about the brothers themselves controlling the leaked old tunes when they just appeared in soulseek, and who knows if it was true. BoC just said that the legit old tunes were leaked by someone they know. So, we know there are in fact 'official' old tunes floating around, but nowadays it's not easy to get them since most of the supposed compilations are joined by lot of fakes.
are you talking about hell interface?
yes
I don't think so. I like Boards of Canada, but I feel that it's definitely limited music. So it's understandable that they have both people who fucking love them, as well as those who discourage any and all people from listening to them whatsoever...
we are only left to imagine what BoC is like live, because they have only performed a handful of shows ever. I love BoC, and if would definitely go to coachella 08 if they played (but I know it wont happen).
well actually, the tracklists for 2 of their shows are on wiki. This first one was supposedly recorded by a member of the audience.
1999 - 10 year anniversary for warp records (this may not be the FULL setlist)

2. "Happy Cycling" – 7:27
3. "The Color of the Fire" – 1:14
4. "Telephasic Workshop + The Smallest Weird Number" – 8:10
5. "Aquarius" – 7:43
6. Unknown – 2:55
7. Unknown – 11:27
The Lighthouse Party (2000) (again, this may not be the full setlist, just some supposed recordings)
1. "Sixtyten (Incomplete)" – 2:17
2. "1969" – 5:48
3. Unknown – 7:07
4. "In a Beautiful Place Out in the Country" – 4:43

Who knows, we can get catalog 3 or midas touch, but how we know we are getting legit stuff. Same with Hooper bay, the old tunes, acid memories, etc. I mean, how do you know those are the legit tracks if we don't have anything to compare them with? There're copies with shorted times, even with different titles.. Yeah, we KNOW there are legit copies out there, but how do we know which ones are the real ones and which are fakes? We can tell some sounds more BoC like, but sometimes that's not enough.
Among the hundreds of persons who claim to have the legit ones, I've just believed in two. Sadly, they won't share those tapes.
yeah its a problem i know. have you heard the hell interface stuff though? i know they put it out officially and i heard its on oink but im not on there so i cant grab it
