Default star wars episode of family guy

so who else saw the star wars episode of family guy last night? I was very impressed, funniest family guy I have seen in many years. possibly funniest ever... I think it was even better than the robot chicken star wars episode. what'd you guys think?

if you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend you download a copy.

    it was fucking awesome.

especially when Chris (Seth Green) and Peter are arguing about Robot Chicken.

Ill_Eagle remarked upon the best part.

Robot Chicken Star Wars Episode > Family Guy Star Wars Episode.

I bet the FG one was a lot of fun for the animators; they recreated a lot of cool scenery and ships flying type shots that didn't have a bit of funny to them. Same with the dialog of which much was used without any change from the film.

The funny parts were when they did actual commentary ("forget a dental plan; all I want are some railings!") though that didn't always work.

Also I've been googling for a screen cap of Porkins from that ep so I could post it in response to something Mr Nipples says eventually but I'ven't found anything.

That was more of a labor of love, as I imagine most of the animators are big star wars geeks. I loved it, but didn't think it was as funny-ha-ha as many of FG's best episodes. I think you had to be a Star Wars fan to really get into it... my girlfriend LOVES Family Guy, but didn't like the episode at all--she has never seen star wars all they way through.

funniest FG, probably not, one of the most entertaining, i thought so. the onpening scene where they just kept scrolling the text with bullshit killed me. i wished they played that out longer. thats probably what i like most about family, the commitment to the drawn out jokes.

So, does Sean Connory sue when his likeness is used? Because they cut to a long shot on his line, but showed everyone else.

It was not as funny as the Robot Chicken special, but it gets points for authenticity. They wasted a LOT of valuable network time in the interest of being authentic....for example, the 30-45 seconds after the title scroll as it floats into the distance. The soft wipes were great too.

But it really wasn't that funny joke by joke. It was just conceptually impressive.

It's true. Nobody who hasn't seen star wars IV can really judge the episode. It clearly was meant for star wars nuts. The jokes made no sense otherwise. Almost every single one had to do with a very specific, often obscure part of the film (like the guys in the laser corridor who didn't want medical or dental, they just wanted a railing behind them., or the rebel sentry in the tower near the end sighting the millennium falcon land and making the childish laser noises at it)

The funniest part in my view was Meg's cameo as the beast in the garbage compactor.

Also, I love the "Wamp Rat" obsession. They did that bit on an earlier show, and then two "Wamp Rat" jokes on this show.

It's kind of a shame MacFarlane couldn't have saved the wamp rat joke from last season for this one, but it wouldn't have worked. That older one only really worked with the real luke. Chris as luke wouldn't have had the same effect. Same thing with Peter's Sand People Choir from a couple seasons ago, the old pedophile as obi wan wouldn't have worked.

The dude really is obsessed with star wars.

I agree. In fact, I already said that in another thread, but I can't remember which fuckin thread that was. The Red October, Red Buttons, Simply Red, etc joke was hilarious too.

Really? Me and my fellow SW geek thought it was pretty weak. Oh well.

I suppose you're refering to the red team roll call but that's not a rip off of the 60 minutes thing. It's a direct reference to the film.

btw, I just realized that Joe Swanson was missing from the SW episode. Does anyone remember him being in it?

That was actually Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo's voices they used, too.

I can believe that they were legit, but the credits also listed Rush Limbaugh by name as well. I have a tougher time believing that was actually him on tattoine talk radio given Seth's hatred for right-wingers.

Although I bet Fox own's the sound recordings of many Limbaugh sound bites... I wonder if they could use those without his permission? Are there any attorneys around here?
