Yep according to GV they walked away from that show without being paid a dollar, that being the very definition of art, but I'm sure they cleaned house on the rest of the tour.
Paul Tollett in URB, on Daft Punk:
I tried every year since 1999 to get Daft Punk. That was a last minute fluke, and why our ad was late. I told their manager, "Here's how it's going to be. It's going to be in the dance tent, and it's going to be legendary. I'll do anything I need to do. Tell me what we need to build. Anything." They put that whole pyramid thing together. But it took a whole lot of money to get that going. The cynic in you thinks, "Well, maybe we offered too much money." But I realize what it was. We offered them enough to make the pyramid, and that's what it was all about. They spent every single dime on that production. They walked away from that show without a dollar from what we paid them. That's true art.
Time for an update

I'd love to see Gorillaz, but I don't think it's happening. Damon said in a interview with Q magazine that his top priority for 2008 "is the next Gorillaz thing, but it won't be called Gorillaz. It's got a name but I'm not going to tell you what it is."
the good, the bad, the gorillaz?
Wait... what? So he is working on something to do with Gorillaz? That is awesome. I heard he is back to working with The Good, The Bad And The Queen already. Thank god thats not the case! Not that TGTBATQ are bad or anything... I actually enjoyed their Coachella performance. Its just that Gorillaz are about 96961676318791 times better.
So it a Gorillaz project... but it's not Gorillaz? Ummmm. Another new band?
In related news, Gorillaz D-sides comes out next week. Its up on their myspace right now. It sounds good. It includes the Soulwax remix of Dare.
Oh, and congrats on being officialy Old School.
I don't think it's something with Gorillaz, but other project similar to Gorillaz. Don't know who besides Damon would be involved, though.
The D sides look nice. Bananaz will come out early next year hopefully.
Animal Collective looks mildly promising:
as you have seen we are playing ATP in may (thats the Explosions In The Sky show i believe) and hopefully doing some other european shows around that not to mention playing a few shows in japan (in march) and perhaps playing at least one show in april in the USA....
Though that could technically mean that they'll play Stubb's or a barn in Idaho.
*based upon tedious fact checking.
where is this legendary post by Dani that Radiohead will not be playing?
i need a link. i must see with my own eyes.
Click on her profile and search all her posts? Probably on the second or third page by now.
Cat Dirt Sez is claiming The Verve will be there. These people (person?) were right about Scar Jo and the Friday set times leak, so that gives them credibility.

God damn it. I hope I don't have to sit through bittersweet symphony for someone good.
The White Stripes 9/18
Actually, all bands at Coachella will perform nothing but "Hotel California" over and over again.
I've heard the Hives kick ass live. I was heartbroken when I found out they were comming to town... opening up for Maroon 5.
I really hope they are there next year.
I told my friend the other day there was buzz that Animal Collective might be at Coachella next year. He told me he heard they broke up. That is obviously not the case. He will be glad to hear it. I would think Animal Collective is a no brainer for next year.
You mean this quote? ...
the verve? i guess. makes sense and i dont have a strong opinion either way though in britain, they have had some huge success so i guess id b interested..
I have the feeling Stars of the Lid will be there next year
