    Default Vinyl to mp3 help!

Whats the easiest way to record/transfer records to your computer to turn them into mp3s or other digital musc files and whatnot?

record player > mixer/amplifier/whatever > sound card on your computer > audio editing program

what that basically means...run your record player/amplifer into your soundcard (if your computer supports it) via some audio cables, and then open up a sound editing app (like adobe audition) and play the record and hit record within the program, and it will record whatever audio you have passing through your system, in this case your records. Once recorded, you can take .wav file and do whatever you want with it (convert to mp3, burn to cd etc)

there's also other ways like running your record player into a stand alone cd burner, and then ripping the cd onto the computer afterwards.

You can get USB turntables. I would say that would be the easiest (just not the cheapest)

this is the turntable I have, which allows connectivity to my computer via headhone jack, would that work the same as connecting to my soundcard or whats the difference?

yes that would work, running a cord from the player into the soundcard, and then recording it that way....i can't say what the quality would be like, but I'm sure it would be average/good for listening.

Sounds like this was already addressed.

I connected my old record player to my PC with a 3.99 cord from Radio shack. One end is a black and red RCA line (into record player) and the other was a headphone line (into PC).

I used Musicmatch jukebox to record each song. You can select MP3, WMA, or WAV. I was able to hear the record from the speakers on my PC. Basically, I put the needle on the record and pressed the record button on Musicmatch. I pressed stop when the song ended.

I completed the album information after recording an entire album.
    Whiskey Sour

    2 oz blended whiskey
    Juice of 1/2 lemon
    1/2 tsp powdered sugar
    1 cherry
    1/2 slice lemon

Shake blended whiskey, juice of lemon, and powdered sugar with ice and strain into a whiskey sour glass. Decorate with the half-slice of lemon, top with the cherry, and serve.

Stanton also makes a turntable with a USB port. TS-80 or something like that.

Well, yeah, I guess. So that means I can rip my mono vinyls. Yippee.

I mean, sure, I can rip a stereo vinyl to mono wavs (etc) but I don't have anything that ridiculously rare that I need to listen to frequently enough to do that.
