This board has the worst priorities ever.
Tool - 10,000 days
Uhm debuted at #1 and sold half a million copies in its first week (double the much anticipated Pearl Jam cralpbum).
Tool - Lateralus
OH, and uhm, Lateralus. Yeah.
We are listing the best of the decade, not the most over-rated.
Seriously though,
I hate to break this to you, but record sales and chart debuts have NOTHING to do with an album being good, hell, N Sync sold 4 times that many in a week, does that make it good? No. Lateralus was decent record, 10,000 was ok at best. But most Tool fans are extremely close-minded to other types of music - not saying you are - but your post suggests that. My priorities are just fine Kid A and Funeral are hard to beat.
and what the fuck is a cralpbum?

I second 10,000 Days, Elephant and Yoshimi and I'd like to add Royksopp's Melody AM and all of those Filter Cd's that get handed out as you leave the polo grounds.
Yeah I can see that. But it was all I could come up with at the moment-I thought that you know maybe that might mean something- but your post has reminded me that it certainly does not and I agree. I was a little bummed at no mention because they are definitely worthy albums especially for a band that makes albums every five years but still seems to sell out arena after arena (within minutes) and have top selling albums. Plus is every bit as experimental/progressive/mind blowing/etc as Radiohead (just cause its a bit heavier is OK if its not your cup of tea).
And thanks for not generalizing because I am open to new music (currently big into the Ed Banger crew right now but this board has turned me onto Battles and Muse which are quickly growing on me) but Tool always has a special place in my heart).
I was merely expressing my dissapointment at no mention of Tool even though I think it should be acknowledged even if it wasnt your favorite. I forgot this thread is about opinions. And like the saying goes: "Opinions are like assholes, everyones got one". (not to call you an asshole)
Crapbulm is something I just kind of came up with. Its a mix of crap + album.
10,000 days was less than impressive. i love tool as much as the next guy, but i was let down
10,000 Days = so fucking mediocre

Really good. I'd say 4/5, with Melody being 4.5/5, according to my rateyourmusic page
I only ask - because it's one of my faves and it never gets mentioned around these parts
