Default Day 2 of Sobriety: Nothingman 1-Slovenly drunkenness 0

Day 2 out of 6 (and if I feel good enough, I may make it longer, though I have plans next Saturday so it ends there, without a doubt)
Went for a 3 mile run walk in 100 degree heat today. My sweat smelled like a mix of Nickeback and urine (basically the sweat smell equivalent of Garth Algar's "Pralines and Dick" ice cream flavor). I've been downing water and green tea like it's going out of style and I think that the increased hydration has had a very weird effect on me. I would search for the TMI thread but what the fuck, why not say it here? Because I'm so adequately hydrated, I've basically been at full-mast all day. Yes, detoxing apparently has the same effect as Viagra. I'm not exactly sure what to make of all this, but I can say that so far, sobriety has mixed results. I do really like sober sex and sober masturbation, though I miss being entertained by TV. I hadn't really thought about either in years (with few exceptions). However, I get agitated more easily and I can;t stop sweating. OK for now... I think my liver or pancreas was swollen a little. Either that or i magically lost 4 pounds in the last day and a half (and weight loss wasn't even a goal-though 10 pounds would be nice). I'm no fun when I'm sober.

How the fuck would you know what I have and have not tasted?

For all you know I could be a connoisseur of fine bottled teas, spending my entire life savings on all things tea. I just may have travelled the world searching for the finest tea leaves, spending hot days in the jungles of Peru with the villagers reaping the benifits of their crops...

now now now, he was quite explicit that he's just on a 6 day sobriety binge before returning to normalcy.

You're on, tom. We can discuss the Hold Steady and try to figure out how someone without superpowers can overcome the Arcade Fire/White Stripes conflict. If one of them is being streamed on blueroom, maybe there's a chance a person could catch both at the same time (if that person had a phone with very loud speakers).

P.S. All this Green Tea talk is good... I started with that Sobe Green Tea stuff. Then I looked at the Sugar content and realized why it tasted so good. So, I switched to the vitamin water (Glaceau) one because it was slightly lower on sugars. Right now, I'm drinking tea called Stash (teabags out of a box--pretty sure there's caffeine which I'm not a fan of), but you have to do the whole tea prep thing... What IS the best, non-caffeinated bottled green tea (in your opinion)? This is important to me. And please suggest something that I can get at Whole Foods or some other nice place in Austin.

This is true, though I could extend it to next Saturday (which would make it a full 14 days) if I feel good enough. Also, has anyone else experienced intense detox regimens that involve those crazy smelling sweats? I'm curious as to what it is...

Sweet Leaf is made in Austin. You can get it just about anywhere, they have it in gallon jugs at Whole Foods.

Completely arbitrary, but I have a meeting about starting up a business in 6 days. So I wanted to be focused for that (even though we'll probably meet for drinks to discuss the business model).

Is it sugar-laden? Does it taste decent? Caffeine?

Personally, I enjoy Lung Ching when it comes to green teas. If you want something really nice, pick up some Pai Mu Tan. It's a white tea, but rather delightful.

But y'know, I also like my tea hot and from a mug (tea cups are for sissies).
    Bicycle, you're keeping me sane.

Come now, sir. You as well as anyone ought to know that that odor is your body via the liver evacuating innumerable poisons from your system. But congrats on the effort--I myself am trying to get back into opiates in as big a way as possible, with a shitload of xanax thrown in for good measure.

I've never truly detoxed. At least not for 10-12 years. I mean, I've gone without drinking for stretches, but I'm not exercising, eating healthy, drinking water, green tea, etx. when I do it usually. In the past, I'd go cold-turkey on drinking then gang up on all of the pills (like you're doing with Xanax) so that I could minimize anxiety. My goal is to completely detox myself (though I smoked a small joint by myself on my porch a few hours ago). And, well, my liver stinks. I mean, my sweat smelled horrendous today. My pillows from last night are remarkably nasty... Washing them right now, actually. I understand where the sweat is coming from, but I've never had sweat smell like this... It's actually much better tonight. I worked out again today right before smoking my joint and my sweat wasn't nearly as odorous. Perhaps due to all the water I've been drinking?

i'm not sure a complete detox could be accomplished in 6 days.

but i know nothing about that, really. just seems like it'd take longer. maybe nando knows.

You can detox in 72 hours.

Stop drinking sugar. Go to a chinese tea store, buy some antixodant rich oolong milk thistle (loose - not in a bag) and a brew pot. It's got a tiny bit of caffeine but it's not as bitter as the straight green.

In my experience you stop noticing all the toxins by the second, third day at the most. Just not being high makes you notice all kinds of funky shit about your life--it's a real downer, I try to avoid it. =)
